Flavour up another meal using your homemade chicken or vegetable stock.

Here's a recipe from the 'Cheap Eats' book put out by the Heart Foundation.

Use chicken bones to make chicken stock, or add 1 cup of extra vegetables to make vegetable stock.

Cooked chicken bones create the most flavour. Use leftover bones from a roast chicken or cooked chicken drumsticks.

Use up those left over vegetable leaves and stalks to make stock.

It is pumpkin season again.
My Mum used to make pumpkin pie for dessert. It was sweet and yummy.
We used to fight over the biggest piece.

If you have a great pumpkin recipe you would like to share, please message the foodbank and we will post it on our page.
Thanks

Goats meat.
Try it in a curry.
Slow-cooked goat becomes tender and flavorful with Jamaican curry and allspice.
Coconut milk and thyme create rich, aromatic Caribbean depth.
This stew is ideal for making ahead, as the flavors deepen over several days.

This recipe for slow-cooked, falling-off-the-bone tender goat meat stew in a Jamaican curry with allspice is a great first foray into cooking with goat.

Goats meat.
Goat meat is tough, so to get maximum results (succulent goat meat) using a pressure cooker, slow cooker or cooking it on low heat will help.

Goat meat is excellent for a diabetes-friendly diet as it is high in protein and low in carbohydrates, which helps in managing blood sugar levels. You can include goat meat regularly in your diet as part of a balanced approach to eating, focusing on variety and nutrient density.

There are some good recipes on 'Google'. Here is a site that I found for a stew or casserole made in a slow cooker that looked good and easy to make.
Cheers

Egg cartons and clean plastic bags are needed by the foodbank.

We share out eggs and fruit and vegs when they are donated.
1 doz size egg cartons would be great and recycled plastic bags that we can fill with fresh fruit.

Please drop the into Woodys Winners lotto shop at 221 Rodney Street, Wellsford.

Thank you in advance

The meat was shared out over Christmas and January and was very much appreciated by the recipients.

Thank you again Greg McCracken for your very generous donation.

Feijoas, fruit of the Season.
The foodbank has been donated several lots of feijoas which we are giving out with every food parcel.

If you don't know what to do with them try Google for different recipes.
There are many ways to use them in chutneys, jams, cakes, muffins and puddings. You can even make feijoa wine.

Here is a couple of sweet recipes I found on the PakNSave website. (I hope they don't mind me spreading the word) Yum.

Cheers
Karen
