There is something infectious about a child's laugh whether its to do with corny word-play or rude body parts once a child starts to giggle they light up a room with smiles and contagious laughter. Childhood cancer can curtail that laughter, it becomes a dark shadow over families lives but throughout a child's cancer journey, they still manage to smile and laugh and simply live life. Parents need
to be there for their children, not concern themselves with the mundane every day tasks. Too often, we are concerned with cleaning, cooking, washing, tidying and generally being an adult - but more often than not, and especially when you have a sick child, you need to put those adult-chores to the side and be there with your child - whether its reading a book, holding hands, or simply sitting there as they fall asleep for families living with cancer it is far more important to simply "be" there with their child than it is to do the mundane everyday tasks that need doing. Our first task is to spread cheekiness - with our Marbel-lous Christmas wishes. Our second task is to provide something yummy and good for those families who are living on the Oncology Ward at Starship Hospital. Our third task will be to raise money to help families out with groceries, lawn-mowing, WOFs, registrations, parking fees - you know all those mundane chores that need doing but take time. Eventually, we want people to donate time, but for those of you who are busy people we would ask that donations be made so that we can "buy" time from others - we want to create an Isaac Village, where people band together, helping each other out, taking the time to help - whether its a strong pair of arms to do the lawns, a nimble pair of fingers to help with laundry, an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on
