Anna Osborne and Sonya Rockhouse share the way their lives changed course as a result of the Pike River mine disaster at our HASANZ 2026 Conference.

Following the Pike River Mine disaster in 2010, Anna and Sonya lost loved ones alongside 27 other families. Since then, they have dedicated themselves to seeking truth, justice and stronger protections for workers in Aotearoa. 🤝

They were both appointed Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in 2022, widely recognised for their services to the community and occupational health and safety.

We’re honoured to have them speak at the HASANZ 2026 conference to share “Our Journey to Justice”. It’s a keynote you won’t want to miss.

It's back! After a successful pilot in 2024, HASANZ is again running expert witness training in conjunction with The Law Association of New Zealand, in Auckland in November. If you already act as an Expert Witness, or if you want to add that to your skillset, this training is for you. Sessions include the background to presenting expert opinion, the High Court rules, and mock trial experience - sitting in a real courtroom and giving testimony under examination by real lawyers.

Use the QR code or link below by September 25th to express interest. Spaces are limited, so we won't be able to give spaces to everyone.

Thanks to Mike Cosman and Brett Harris for once again taking the lead to get this session organised, and to the Environment Court for letting us use their courtroom.

Bringing an in-depth knowledge of planning and running major events and projects. Benjamin has a unique perspective gained over 30 years of working with local, regional, national, and international organisations. He is currently a trustee for Te Rōpū Marutau o Aotearoa.
