URGENT MESSAGE FOR CAB SUPPORTERS!!!

Citizens Advice Bureaus in the Wellington City Council area are facing a threat to our ongoing survival. We have been told by the Council โ€“ our main funder - that our funding is to be slashed by 59%. This cut would mean that the CAB service in Wellington would eventually have to close, leaving thousands of Wellingtonians without the vital service the CAB provides.

We need your help now.

Tomorrow the Councilโ€™s Grants Committee meets to discuss funding for community groups in the city or the coming year, including for our CABs. We were only told a few working days ago that our funding was to be slashed and that this would be the meeting where the Committee makes that decision.

We are calling on all supporters of the CAB service to come along tomorrow to the Committee meeting โ€“ a public meeting โ€“ to show your support for the CAB and your opposition to the proposed cuts to our funding.

The Council Grants Committee meeting is tomorrow: Wednesday 20 May, 1.30 pm in room 1.01 Waiwhetu, Level 1, 2 Harris Street. Please head to reception on level 1 and you will be directed from there.

As public participation is at the start of the agenda we would be grateful if you arrived early so we are able to sign you in.

How you can help:

- Come along to the Grants Committee meeting tomorrowโ€ƒ

- Wear CAB colours to the meeting, if you can โ€“ black and yellow

- Share this message as widely as possible through your networks and encourage people to attend the meeting tomorrow in support of the CAB

- Contact your local Councillors and MPs to tell them you oppose the funding cut for the CAB, and ask them to use their influence to put a stop to it.
