It's World Smokefree Day, and if you or a loved one thinks it's time to quit then that's great news! Do make use of the support services available to help, you don't have to go it alone: https://worldsmokefreemay.nz/stop-smoking-services/

Acupuncture is recognised as a complementary therapy in smoking cessation and other types of addiction recovery. Acupuncture aims to restore energy pathways and balance, and can assist in the reduction of cravings and withdrawal symptoms. It may also reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance overall well‑being, making it a useful adjunct to conventional treatment methods.

Earlier this month AcNZ President Robin Kerr and her AHANZ Co Chairs met with Health Minister Hon. Simeon Brown to kōrero in support of a strong national allied health voice and a system centred on person led, function focused care.

Allied health continues to prove its impact across Aotearoa. Far from being a “support service,” our professions are key in reducing hospital stays, improving recovery outcomes, and strengthening community-based care and support. Our diverse workforce must be represented at every level of the health sector conversation.

Minister Hon. Simeon Brown was enthusiastic and energised by the creativity and innovation happening across our professions and the clear value allied health brings to the future of care.

AcNZ Vice President Renjie Xi was delighted to be asked to present at an event in Northcote last week. Renjie delivered a talk on self-care tips from Traditional Chinese medicine for the upcoming winter.
It was a great turnout, and everyone enjoyed learning how to do some gentle and beautiful qigong practice - the six sounds of healing which combines movement, and sound.

Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day
Becoming a parent is both rewarding and challenging. In New Zealand, an estimated 12–18% of birthing parents face perinatal mental health challenges during pregnancy or the first year postpartum.

Traditional Chinese medicine has a very long history of providing holistic support to pregnant women and may be used as a complementary approach to support wellbeing and mood as part of an individualised care plan.

To explore how acupuncture and Chinese medicine may support you or someone you care about, talk to one of our qualified and nationally registered practitioners via the the AcNZ Find a practitioner page.

On ANZAC Day, we honor the bravery and sacrifices of those who have served.
Acupuncture NZ is committed to serving their communities and draw inspiration from the same values of kinship that defined the ANZACs.
AcNZ developed the Veteran Ready Certification in conjunction with members of the RNZRSA and as we reflect today, we also look forward with a commitment to healing and wellbeing.
