This is what we came for. 🏏

Girls on tour. First ever CEF UK programme. Two weeks of cricket, connection, and moments we won’t forget.

This is just the beginning.

Officially launched. 🏏

Our 17 July launch rounded off a memorable UK tour, following a brilliant exhibition match between the MCC Women’s team and a Charlotte Edwards Foundation Invitational XI, six-plus international teams represented on the day.

79 not out lit up the middle, but half century just upstaged it, MCC winning a great match by nine runs.

Two tours in and now officially here, this is just the beginning.

Yesterday was about building better cricketers, on and off the pitch.

A gym session first, where the players learned about muscle groups suited to their playing type, why overworking areas of the body works against you, and proper technique on different equipment. Then a power hitting and wicketkeeping session with specialist coaches from Essex.

The day finished with an evening match against a Billericay CC Invitational XI. Two teams, one great contest, everyone walked off happy.

Five days into the CEF UK Tour and it’s been a big start.

We arrived at Newhall School last Wednesday, our base for the tour. Thursday was classroom sessions in the morning and a light training run in the afternoon, getting the group settled before the cricket ramped up.

Friday brought a full session of fielding, tactics and bowling plans, then our first match of the tour against an MCC Foundation U17 Girls Performance Group from Essex. Comfortable win.

Saturday we were at Lord’s for day two of the first ever Women’s Test match. Time in the Long Room, and the group got to clap the players onto the field from the pavilion at the start of play. Not something these players will forget.

Sunday we backed it up with a second win, this time against Billericay U17.

Training continues this week, along with more matches, before Friday’s Charlotte Edwards Foundation launch event and Saturday’s finale against an Essex XI. More to come.
