🏃‍♀️SAVE THE DATE – Karori Athletics AGM🏃‍♂️

We’re warming up for another great season of Karori Athletics!

Join us for our AGM - a chance to review the 2025/26 season and plan for 2026/27. Everyone is welcome.

📅 When: 7pm Monday 21 September
📍 Where: Karori Community Centre

The Karori Athletics Club is all about fun, fitness, and friendship - from games-based sessions for 5–6 year olds to track & field athletics for 7–15 year olds.

Our Club Nights run Wednesdays at Ben Burn Park (6–7/7:30pm) in Term 4 & Term 1.

‼️ First Club Night for the 2026/27 season: Wednesday 21 October ‼️

We’re a 100% volunteer-run club, and in 2026 we need more helping hands at Wednesday Club Nights - it’s all part of signing your kids up!

That’s a wrap on our 2025/26 Karori Athletics season!

Thanks to everyone who joined us at Prizegiving last week - and a huge congratulations to all our Cup and Award winners 👏

It’s been an awesome season of running, jumping, throwing (and a few windy Wednesdays thrown in too just to keep it real 😮‍💨).

‼️ Please note the later time of 6:15.

✅ As above for everything else!

🏃‍♂️ Karori Athletics | Wellington Junior Champs 🏃‍♀️

What a day on Sunday at Wellington Junior Champs! 💥

From PBs to podiums, medals to massive efforts – our Karori athletes showed up, gave it everything, and did us proud 💪🖤

It’s not just about the results (though there were plenty of those 👀) – it’s the determination, sportsmanship and team spirit that makes this club so special. We’re incredibly proud of every single athlete who stepped out onto the track and field.

Looks like we’ve been gifted a cracking autumn evening for athletics at Ben Burn Park! 🍂🏃‍♂️

A few notices from the start line:

• Only one more Club Night after tonight before we wrap up the season with Prize Giving on Wednesday 25 March.

• Next week is the final night for our legendary 5–6 year old Run Jump Throw crew – they’ll receive a certificate for being awesome athletes (and possibly the highlight (other than Grant’s weekly stickers!)…a wee sweet treat).

• Prize Giving for the big kids will be held Tuesday 25 March, 6–7pm at Ben Burn Park.

👏 A huge good luck to our 15 athletes competing at the Wellington Champs this Sunday at Newtown Park. Ben Burn Park has prepared you well! 💪

👋 Parents – if you can stay to help with folders and finish lines tonight, that would be hugely appreciated. Many hands make light work!

And finally…nothing says athletics like a $2.50 Gipps Street Butchery proper sausage at the end of the night. 🌭

A gentle (and slightly nose-wrinkling) reminder to the dog walkers of Ben Burn Park 🐾 💩

Karori Athletics Club has been running Club Nights here since 1912, and we absolutely love sharing this beautiful space with the community - especially on evenings like Wednesday when the sun was out and the track is buzzing.

Since the Campbell Village green space was decommissioned, we’ve noticed a few more four-legged friends enjoying the park too - which is great!

However…our athletes run a lot of laps, sprints and relays on those marked lanes, and this week we had to close one of the lanes because of an unfortunate “skiddy situation” that hadn’t been picked up. 🤢

So a friendly Karori reminder: If your dog leaves a little surprise, please take it with you - even the skiddy ones.

Nothing ruins a sprint finish quite like discovering something unexpected underfoot… 💩💨

Who: Karori athletes aged 10+
Focus: High jump, long jump, sprint starts and (time permitting) hurdles.

A fantastic opportunity to learn from one of our own and sharpen up ahead of Champs.

Karori Represents at McEvedy 2026! 🏃🏻

Today at the 103rd McEvedy Shield at Newtown Park, we are incredibly proud to see these former Karori Athletics Club athletes pulling on the Wellington College singlet and representing at one of the biggest secondary school athletics events in the country 🖤 💛
