Last month, our NAWIC Waikato community came together with Master Builders for a meaningful Pink Ribbon Breakfast in support of breast cancer research and awareness, held at The Canopy Café at University of Waikato.

We were privileged to hear from by Dr Ian Campbell from the Breast Cancer Research Trust. As a founding member and internationally recognised clinical researcher, Ian has led more than 35 global breast cancer trials. His presentation highlighted the vital, evidence‑based work the Trust undertakes to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes for people across New Zealand.

We then heard from Tony Kavanagh, Director of Property Development & Infrastructure, who shared an insightful update on the New Zealand Graduate School of Medicine development - a project set to shape the future of medical education in Aotearoa.

Thank you to everyone who joined us - dressed in pink, connecting over breakfast canapés and hot coffee, and contributing to conversations that truly matter. Your support helps drive research, awareness, and hope.

If you would like to make a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Trust, you can donate at this link https://fundraise.bcf.org.nz/fundraisers/nawicwaikato/pinkribbonbreakfast
We would like to thank those of you that have donated so far.

Thanks again! Together, we make a difference.

A big thank you to Vesta Finance and Advisory for sharing their time and expertise with NAWIC Hawke’s Bay.

The session gave our members the opportunity to hear practical, down-to-earth advice on KiwiSaver, mortgages, budgeting, and planning ahead, helping make topics that can often feel daunting a lot more accessible and easier to understand.

Events like this are so valuable because they create space for women to come together, ask questions openly, and build knowledge and confidence in a setting that feels supportive, safe, and free from judgement. It was fantastic to see such great engagement across the room and to know everyone walked away with useful tools and insights to take forward.

A special thank you as well to the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce for providing the space for us to hold the event and for your amazing hospitality, it was very much appreciated.

And of course, one of the best reminders from the evening was that it is never too late to start building confidence in your financial future. Thank you again to everyone who came along and helped make it such a worthwhile event.
