A new plan to better support New Zealand’s carers.
The Government has launched Mahi Aroha Carers’ Strategy Action Plan, recognising the vital contribution of New Zealanders who provide unpaid care and support to friends and whānau.
Developed in partnership with the Carers Alliance and representatives from carers’ organisations, the plan focuses on three areas carers have said matter most:
➡️ Recognition and appreciation
➡️ ️ Health and wellbeing
➡️ Financial security
Unlike previous action plans, Mahi Aroha does not expire. It provides an ongoing approach that can continue to be reviewed and built on as the needs of carers and communities change.
As a member of the Carers Alliance, Stroke Aotearoa welcomes this important step towards better recognising and supporting the people who care for others across Aotearoa.
