Footnote New Zealand Dance is a trailblazing contemporary dance company.

We are renowned for collaborating with choreographers to create transformative artistic ventures that captivate and invigorate audiences.

We want to thank everyone who took time to apply for our 2027 Dance Artist auditions. The Footnote team were overwhelmed with the response to the call out, with 180 people from 36 different countries applying to audition. The scope of the talent was outstanding, making the job of the shortlist very difficult! We can't wait to meet everyone at the in-person auditions in October.

All applicants have now been contacted, if you have not heard from us please check your spam folder.

"Each performer brings a distinct characterisation to the labour, and each is a delight to watch. Heke is intimate and regal. Maden is a revelation, explosive and articulated. Matsuda is subtle yet comedic. Matsumoto is thoughtful and engaging." - Chloe Klein, Theatreview.

This week Big Low Dream by Jessie McCall makes its last stop at Q Loft, presented as an early offering for Tempo Dance Festival 2026. There's only a handful of tickets left for Friday and Saturday's performances!

"McCall is brave, undeterred, and deeply creative, with a genuine intention of making a difference in human perspective.

Big Low Dream is a realm unto itself. The piece is a visual art feast of loaded imagery that explores the unconscious mind and the boundaries of reality and fantasy.

Big Low Dream crosses genres: it is as much performance art as it is dance, as it is installation. " - Tessa Martin, Theatreview.
