Kia ora Newlands whānau 🤍

With many in our community affected by the storm power outages, damaged homes, and disruptions, Nga Hau e Whā o Paparārangi is opening our doors to support those in need.

If you or someone you know needs:
• A place to charge phones/devices
• Warm drinks or a bite to eat
• A safe space to sit, rest, and regroup
• Support and connection

We are open from 10am today and Wednesday.

If you can safely check on neighbours, especially kaumātua and whānau with tamariki, please do.

Stay safe everyone. Arohanui ❤️

🌬️ Pānui from Nhewop – Closed Today due to Red Wind Warning ‼️

Kia ora e te whānau,

Due to the severe weather and red wind warning currently affecting Pōneke, Nhewop will be closed today (Thursday 23 October) for everyone’s safety.

The winds are extremely strong across Wellington, with gusts over 100–140km/h. Please take care, look out for your neighbours, and stay indoors where possible.

Here are some helpful reminders to keep everyone safe:
• 💧 Fill some containers or bottles with water in case the power goes out.
• 🔦 Keep torches, batteries, and phones charged if you can.
• 🏠 Secure or bring inside outdoor items like trampolines, bins, and furniture — they can easily blow away.
• 🐕 Keep pets safe and indoors if possible.
• 🚗 Avoid unnecessary travel, especially over exposed roads or hilltops.
• 💬 Check in on kaumātua and whānau who may need a hand.
