When it came to choosing who to build with, Greg from Oswald Homes stood out to Caro and Scott for his honest, down-to-earth approach and the confidence he brought to the project from the very beginning. 🏖️✨

“As our plans progressed, Greg provided thoughtful advice and practical input. Whenever issues arose during the build, he approached them with a solutions-focused mindset. He communicated clearly, was upfront about variations and costs, and would usually come to us with more than one option, which gave us real confidence throughout the process.” 🔨

And when it came to the finished home, it was everything they had hoped for and more.

“We couldn’t be happier with the end result. The home feels perfectly suited to its Waihi Beach setting, with light-filled living spaces, strong indoor-outdoor flow, and beautiful views out to the treetops and ocean. Greg’s attention to detail, along with the quality of his team and subcontractors, really shows in the finished result.” ☀️🌊

For Caro and Scott, it was also important that Oswald Homes was a Master Builder, giving them added confidence through the Master Build Guarantee. 🤝

A glowing recommendation, a trusted name, and a meeting with Chris Sinclair gave David and Tina confidence that Sinclair Builders were the right team for their renovation. 🏠✨

One of the highlights of their finished home was the new kitchen and living area, now transformed into one bright, welcoming space.

“Our favourite part of the house is the new kitchen and living area. What was once three small rooms separated by a corridor is now one open, sunlit space. A standout feature is the original Rimu timber ceiling from the old dining room, which adds a wonderful sense of space while honouring the home’s original craftsmanship.” ☀️🪵

Equally valuable was the guidance Sinclair Builders brought to every stage of the journey. With the added confidence of working with a Master Builder, David and Tina were able to trust the process and achieve a result that far exceeded their expectations.

“We knew nothing about building, or the earthquake repair and insurance process, but Chris gave us great advice and helped transform the house into something we never imagined. Working with a Master Builder gave us added reassurance.” 👏🔨

🏆An outstanding achievement for LT McGuinness Ltd and their project team, who won the Supreme Award over $10 million for the second year running at the 2026 Commercial Project Awards, this time for Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui, Wellington Central Library.

The team’s accolades don’t stop there, also winning the Commercial Project over $25 million Value Award and Civic Project Category Award. 👏

A much-loved civic landmark, Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui called for extraordinary care, precision, and technical expertise. With the entire library closely held in place, the team carried out major strengthening works beneath the building, taking on one of the toughest projects of its kind in New Zealand.

Rather than demolishing and starting again, the team strengthened and renewed the building, preserving an important part of Wellington’s civic landscape while reducing waste. The project also achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating, reflecting its strong sustainability outcomes. 🌿

Delivered on time and on budget, Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui is a standout example of collaboration, innovation, and calm ex*****on under pressure. A fantastic result for LT McGuinness Wellington and everyone involved. ✨

🎉 A massive congratulations to Leighs Construction Ltd and their project partners, who have taken out the Supreme Award under $10 million at the 2026 Commercial Project Awards for The George Forbes Building, Stage 3. The project team also took home the Commercial Project $3 – $10 million Value Award.

Delivered on budget and ahead of schedule, this project transformed Lincoln University’s main entrance in time for orientation week, creating a clearer, more welcoming gateway to the campus while ensuring university life continued without disruption. 🎓

The project saw outdated areas removed, facilities upgraded, and new spaces created across the ground and first floors. The judges were particularly impressed by the way original brick columns were retained, the entry sequence was reshaped, and the carved entrance feature strengthened the connection with Ngāi Tahu and Te Taumutu Rūnanga. 🔨

Inside, natural light brings a vibrant and inviting feel to the renewed spaces. Completed with great care around the 300 staff working above, this was a thoughtful and memorable project, and a truly deserving Supreme Award winner. ⭐

Next in our ‘Out of the Box’ series, we’re spotlighting Downey Construction Ltd for the Hamilton Gardens Visitor Precinct, which won a Gold Award at the 2025 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards. 🏆

The redevelopment enhances one of New Zealand’s best-known garden destinations across five key areas: an extended café, a new visitor information centre, a refurbished pavilion, redesigned grounds, and the striking Fern Court structure. 🌿

Working in a live environment with limited access, the team carefully managed the build through staged construction, temporary facilities, and a strong focus on visitor safety throughout the project.

In partnership with Hamilton City Council, the team worked closely to refine designs, deliver value engineering and keep construction running efficiently, creating an iconic new gateway that enhances the visitor experience at Hamilton Gardens. ✨
