💜💙 Transgender Awareness Week: We're Here for You 💙💜
This week (November 13–19) is Transgender Awareness Week, a time to increase understanding, share stories, and advance advocacy for the transgender community.

We stand with all trans and gender-diverse young people. Navigating life can be tough enough without facing prejudice, discrimination, or violence. Please know that at Youthline, you have a safe, confidential space to talk about anything—your identity, your worries, or just your day.

The week culminates in Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on November 20th, when we honour the lives lost to anti-transgender violence. We are committed to fostering a world where every young person feels safe, valued, and free to be themselves.

If you need support, want to talk, or are struggling as an ally, we are here to listen 24/7.

🚨 A proposed social media ban for under-16s? Here’s why we’re concerned...
New proposals to ban social media for under 16s are making headlines. But what could that actually mean for our young people?
At Youthline, we support thousands of rangatahi every year, and we believe a blanket ban could cut young people off from vital mental health support - especially those in rural or marginalised communities.
📱 We know that many young people access free counselling and crisis help through platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. These are spaces where they already feel safe to connect.
🧠 Right now, there’s no solid evidence that a blanket ban would be effective. Our concern is that removing access won’t fix the real issues - like bullying, body image pressures, or harmful content. Instead, it could push young people into less safe online spaces and make it harder for them to speak up or reach out.
🗣️ Our message is clear: any solution must include youth voices and be backed by evidence, not fear.
