Thank you to everyone who joined our Indonesian Conversation Hour!

It was amazing to see everyone come together to practice Bahasa Indonesia, share stories, and making connections. This session was extra special as we introduced Risol, one of Indonesia’s beloved snacks & explored Aksara Jawa (Javanese script) as a unique part of Indonesian culture that’s rarely taught, especially in an international setting.

A big thank you to LEC for collaborating with us and to Indomie for the support 🍜
See you at our next event!

Kia ora whānau e hoa! 👋

Let’s join our PPIW Monthly Discussion – April Edition:

“Personal Achievement or Social Responsibility?
Educational Scholarships between Individual and Structural Problems”

🎤 Opening remark:
Ben Laksana
(Teaching Fellow, School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations, Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington)

🗓 Friday, 24 April 2026
⏰ 4:00 – 6:00 PM (NZDT)
📍 AM106
📱 Also available via IG Live

💬 What will we discuss?
We’ll explore how educational scholarships are often seen as a solution to inequality in Indonesia. While they do open opportunities for some, they can also shift broader structural issues—like unequal resources, institutional quality, and market-driven education—onto individuals.

This raises important questions:
Are success and failure really just about personal effort?
And how do scholarships shape competition and meritocracy within ongoing inequality?

🍽 Light kai & inu will be provided
