It’s Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. To some that’s just another phrase to throw around and try and get clicks off of. But to me it’s personal. As someone that’s struggled with my own mental health I know it can feel hopeless. I know it can feel like you’re alone. I know that it can feel like you’re powerless to do anything about it.

But, there’s help. I’ve been in psychotherapy for 8 years and EVERY single aspect of my life has gotten better. Every single one. Suffering in silence and being around people that belittle you don’t help at all I promise you. Your favorite weirdo podcaster that’s telling you to suck it up and go to the gym don’t help either. You can’t spend all day at the gym. Sooner or later you have to go home and face yourself and when you do, what happens then?

Vulnerability is not a weakness, it’s one of the greatest strengths to have. But being vulnerable to the wrong person can alter your perception on it and can drive you deeper into darkness. Find a therapist. Find someone that will listen. Find someone that can help.

A lot of these podcasters don’t care about your mental health, they only care about saying stupid sh** that only helps them. Go online, find a local therapist and make that investment into your mental wellbeing. Your family, friends and everyone else will thank you for it. And most importantly, you’ll thank yourself.

A five-year follow-up of a psilocybin-assisted therapy study found that two-thirds of participants with Major Depressive Disorder were still in remission five years after treatment, with marked improvements in well-being measures.

While multiple factors may have influenced the results and many participants sought additional treatment during that period, the rapid and sustained response sets it apart from conventional approaches.

“Some of the most debilitating aspects of depression are people isolating and withdrawing from things that are important to them. Despite some of those symptoms coming back, they found they weren’t experiencing those same levels of impairment – that really speaks to the potential for some people that this treatment might catalyse future positive effects when they’re going through depression.” – lead author Alan Davis

We are honored to share the stories of two resilient male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, Kevin Taylor & Tyler VanScyoc.

Kevin steps forward to discuss the role that sports, the military, and therapy played in helping him find his path forward after experiencing abuse at the hands of both trusted adults and an anonymous pe*****le ring. Tyler, while still a teenager living at home, bravely disclosed years of abuse at the hands of his stepfather and shared his experience with our team at 1in6 as well as on S3 of the series "Betrayal: Under his Eye" streaming on Hulu/Disney+.
