We want to say a big thank you to everyone who made NZ Resus 2026 and our 30th anniversary such a success.

Last night at our 30th anniversary dinner at the Cardboard Cathedral, we had the pleasure of announcing the Wellington Hospital Newborn Life Support Advanced Instructor team as the recipients of the 2026 Duncan Galletly Award for Excellence in Education, for their dedication to delivering excellent resuscitation training for newborn life support.

Tonight we have He Po Whakangahau - A night of entertainment at the Cardboard Cathedral, celebrating our 30th anniversary.

Announcing our next speaker for NZ Resus 2026, Associate Professor Ziad Nehme ASH.

Associate Professor Ziad Nehme is an Ambulance Victoria paramedic and a Heart Foundation and National Health and Medical Research Council Fellow with expertise in prehospital emergency care and resuscitation research.

Ziad is also a Scientific Advisory Task Force Member of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), an Executive member of the Australasian Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (Aus-ROC) and Ambulance Victoria's Strategic Lead for Cardiac Arrest Improvement. Ziad is an Associate Editor for the Prehospital Emergency Care journal and an editorial board member of the journal Resuscitation Plus.

He will speaking on “Manual pressure augmentation for defibrillation in cardiac arrest”.

Announcing our next speaker for NZ Resus 2026, Professor Charles Deakin.

Prof. Charles Deakin (UK) is Divisional Medical Director for South Central Ambulance Service and a consultant in cardiac anaesthesia and cardiac intensive care at University Hospital Southampton.

Charles is a lead author for paramedic (JRCALC), RCUK and European ALS resuscitation guidelines and is a member of the ILCOR advanced life support working group. He was formerly the ILCOR domain lead for defibrillation and was also a Principal Investigator for the PARAMEDIC-2 adrenaline study.

Charles will be speaking on "Optimising defibrillation success: Pad position, energy levels, or dual sequential?" and "End of the road for adrenaline?"

Announcing our next speaker for NZ Resus 2026, Professor Janet Bray.

Janet Bray is a Professor and Heart Foundation Fellow at Monash University. She leads a resuscitation research program as Director of the Australasian Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (Aus-ROC) Centre of Research Excellence, and is Chair of the Basic Life Support Taskforce for the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and an Executive Member of the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Janet will be speaking on "Prevention starts with education" and also giving an update on the Basic Life Support ANZCOR Guidelines.
