Tawatawa Reserve - SEA We are an environmental restoration association working alongside Wellington City Council to rejuvenate Tawatawa Reserve, Ōwhiro Bay.

We are an environmental organisation working alongside the Wellington City Council to rejuvenate Tawatawa Reserve, Murchison Street, Owhiro Bay, Wellington. We come together to plant and maintain the reserve, every Saturday between 1-3pm. Except for some public holidays and rain days.

Meet at the car park on the corner of Murchison and Frobisher at 1pm. Will update post if weather forecast deteriorates.

All welcome, no experience necessary. It’s an easy walk just off the City to Sea walkway.

Great afternoon getting 100 plants in the ground between showers! We were doing enrichment planting along the City to Sea walkway up from Frobisher Street… nīkau, kohekohe, tawa, tītoki, and some beautiful big tree ferns 💚

This stretch of the walkway was first planted over 30 years ago in protest to the proposed road joining Quebec Street with Frobisher/Murchison Street. The original tōtara are easily over 5m tall now, with rātā planted every 10m from days of Project Crimson.

Join us next Sunday for more of the same planting Cow Bone Gulley, just down from the lizard garden lizard 🦎🌳 😎

Now that much of the hills of Tawatawa are regenerating native bush, we are turning our attention to enrichment planting, increasing the biodiversity of the reserve to provide habitat for critters such as stinks and lizards 🦎 🥰
