Featherston Amateur Wrestling Club

Featherston Amateur Wrestling Club Featherston Wrestling Club welcomes young and old, seasoned or new, males and females wanting to learn how to wrestle or keep fit during the off season!

Featherston Wrestling Club welcomes old and new members, experienced and new wrestlers, male and female wanting to learn the art of wrestling. Wrestling doesn’t discriminate. No matter your body type — height or weight — there is a place for you in wrestling. Weight classes ensure fairness amongst the competitors, so you’re never too small or too big to participate. When you wrestle, you can’t rel

y on anyone but yourself. Without a positive attitude, there will be no success. From the onset, wrestlers learn to count on themselves, gaining confidence on and off the wrestling mats. The degree of athleticism it takes to succeed in wrestling is second to none. Although many wrestlers don’t start out as “natural athletes,” wrestling improves balance, reflexes, strength, endurance, and agility. Wrestling will undoubtedly improve an athlete’s capabilities in other sports as well. Wrestling teaches the basic skills about how to protect yourself on the event of a physical altercation:

Body positioning
How to control an opponent
How to defend against different types of attacks
Toughness
If anything, basic wrestling skills will help you better understand how to keep yourself safe in some of the most undesirable situations. COME ALONG AND GIVE IT A TRY!!

FUNDRAISER NIGHT FOR WAIRANGI 🔥

If any of our club whānau are looking for a fun night out and want to support a great cause, we have a fundraiser happening for Wairangi next Friday! 💪

Wairangi has been wrestling for Featherston Wrestling Club since he was just 5 years old. Over the years, he has proudly represented our club at regional, national, and international level with amazing success. 🤼‍♂️

Not only is he chasing his own goals, but he is also now giving back to the club by helping train and coach our junior wrestlers, as well as supporting some of our senior wrestlers too 👏

His goal this year is to compete in as many competitions across New Zealand and internationally as possible, with the dream of one day representing Aotearoa on the world stage! 🇳🇿

All funds raised will go towards travel and accommodation costs to help support his journey.

We’d love to see our wrestling whānau and community get behind him for a great night out ❤️

👉 All details are on the poster!
