💚Seven years on, Rae Miller’s legacy is still making a difference.

When Rae left a gift in her Will to Wellington Free Ambulance, she never knew how many lives it would go on to touch.

In 2019, her sister Helen helped turn Rae’s gift into Ambulance 403, adding Rae’s share of their parents’ estate to create what she calls “a family ambulance”.

For Helen, seeing it still on the road is incredibly special: “I see it every now and again and it always brings tears to my eyes.”

Look at the image to see the impact of Rae’s ambulance within our communities: that’s over 12,500 incidents the ambulance has attended.

Gifts of all sizes have a profound impact on Wellington Free Ambulance. A gift in your Will can help ensure we’re here for future generations, just as we’ve been here for our communities for nearly 100 years.

💓 Rachel, Senior Heartbeat Programme Manager, came across Chris Bishop while he was out door-knocking a few weeks ago.

She took the opportunity to explain about Wellington Free's aim to put some AEDs (automated external defibrillators) along the 4.5km Te Ara Tupua shared path - and then invited him back a few weeks later to check out the five new AEDs we've recently installed!

Now, when you're enjoying Te Ara Tupua, there are five potentially lifesaving AEDs available 24/7 in case someone experiences a sudden cardiac arrest (when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating normally).

Thanks to the ongoing generosity and support of Cornerstone Partner Julie Nevett and The Lloyd Morrison Foundation, we install and maintain AEDs like this, free of charge.

💚 “Every day is different, and that’s what I love.”

Meet Monique, who joined Wellington Free Ambulance as a Patient Transfer Officer while studying for her paramedicine degree.

Nearly three years later, she’s graduated as a paramedic and says her time in Patient Transfer Services has given her valuable experience and insight into the people, patients and teams behind the scenes.

From hospital transfers and dialysis appointments to helping frontline crews, no two days are the same and it’s the people she meets along the way that make the job so rewarding. 🚑

Meet Pepper, our latest office visitor! 🐾

She came in ready to learn all about Wellington Free Ambulance and our work in the community. After a tour of the office, Pepper decided she’d learned enough for one day…and promptly clocked off for a nap. 💤

💚 A big Onesie-ful thank you to our Accommodation Partner, Ohtel, for helping make this year’s Onesie Appeal extra special!

Ohtel supported our amazing fundraisers by donating a fabulous prize for those who reached the $250 fundraising milestone - giving one lucky fundraiser the chance to enjoy a luxury two-night stay, complete with breakfast and some special treats. ✨

Congratulations to Rachel Horwell, our lucky prize winner! 🎉

We’re so grateful for Ohtel’s continued support and for helping us celebrate the incredible people who get behind Onesie Appeal each year.

Thank you for being Onesie-ful, Ohtel! 😎

📣 We're hiring! Join the Wellington Free Ambulance team as a rosters administrator.

📆 About the role:
As a rosters administrator, you'll make a real difference in the work we do here at Wellington Free on a day-to-day basis. You’ll provide rostering coverage for all service delivery areas as well as coordinating internal and external training requirements and guests.

👤Who we're looking for:
This would be an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to gain skills in a new area or expand on current skills in this area. Ideally you'll have worked in a similar position in a 24/7 operational workplace, but most importantly you'll have a strong eye for detail and an eagerness to learn in this space!

🚑 Why Wellington Free:
This is a chance to support the way our operational staff work and directly contribute to the purpose of Wellington Free.

Thanks to Kāpiti Coast District Council for capturing this great shot of an AED (automated external defibrillator) at Campbell Park in Paekākāriki!

Accessible 24/7, this AED can make a lifesaving difference to anyone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest (when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating normally) 💓
