🥫 Making a Difference, One Can at a Time 🥫

Recently, our club was proud to take part in the Rotary's Cans for a Cause project, donating more than 300 cans of food to support the important work of The Wellington City Mission.

A huge thank you goes to New World Wellington City for their generous support and assistance in helping us ensure the City Mission received the specific items most needed by the community.

This is just one of the many ways our members get involved and give back locally. If you've ever wondered what Rotary is all about, why not come along to a meeting and see for yourself? We'd love to welcome you and show you how you can make a difference while building new friendships and connections along the way.

🐝🐝 Something Exciting is Buzzing into Wellington this Spring! 🐝🐝

We're delighted to announce that we've bee-come a sponsor of Bee in the City, a spectacular public art event that will create quite a buzz across the Wellington CBD for eight weeks in Spring 2026.

Featuring 30 large bee sculptures, each uniquely designed by a talented artist and sponsored by a local business or organisation, the trail will offer a free, fun, and family-friendly opportunity for the community to explore, discover, and enjoy the city.

Our very own Rotary bee has already taken flight and is currently in the capable hands of our talented artist, who is busy creating something truly special. We can't wait to share highlights, so keep your eyes peeled for updates! 🐝

At the conclusion of the event, the sculptures will be auctioned, with proceeds helping to raise vital funds for the Life Flight Trust.

To learn more, visit beeinthecity.org.nz or check out Bee in the City Wellington

🐝🐝 We're thrilled to be part of this hive of creativity for such a worthy cause and look forward to sharing more as we swarm closer to Spring 2026! 🐝🐝

At our meeting last night, we had the pleasure of hearing from Donna Dentice, Peter Cullen, and students Miro Ireson from Wellington High School and Brynn Pierce from Newlands College about the Strengthening Democracy programme - one of the fantastic projects we proudly support in the Wellington region.

Strengthening Democracy encourages young people to think critically about democracy, the challenges facing it, and how they can actively participate in New Zealand’s democratic processes. This year, Miro and Brynn shared how they had been exploring and reviewing New Zealand’s MMP voting system, introduced in 1996.

It was inspiring to hear how around 70% of Wellington region schools are now involved in the programme, and to hear firsthand from Miro and Brynn about the impact it has had on them personally.

Some of the highlights they spoke about included hearing from and working alongside MPs from different political parties around the table, being exposed to influential leaders, and seeing democracy in action firsthand. Miro and Brynn also shared how this week’s workshop included a session from the Polish Ambassador, Patryk Michał Błaszczak - an enlightening experience for everyone involved.

The biggest message from them was simple - Keep supporting the programme and keep encouraging schools to get involved, because it is such a unique and valuable opportunity for young people.

A huge thank you to Donna, Peter, Miro, and Brynn for joining us and speaking so passionately about the programme and the impact it is having on students across our region.

If you're interested in getting involved in community service and projects like this, we'd love to welcome you along to a meeting to see what we're about. WOW Wellington and the Hutt Valley… what an incredible day we had yesterday! 🎪✨

Seeing the smiles, laughter, and amazement across the crowd at Circus Quirkus was something truly special. From jaw-dropping performances to hilarious moments that had the whole audience laughing together, it was amazing to see so many families and young people enjoying such a magical experience.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so memorable. We especially loved seeing the excitement and reactions as the performers wowed the audience with their talent, energy, and heart.

Thank you as well to everyone who supported our snack stand throughout the day. Your generosity helped us raise several thousand dollars, with every dollar going straight back into supporting YOU — our local community! 🍿🥤❤️

We also want to give a MASSIVE thank you to the incredible businesses and sponsors who supported Circus Quirkus and helped fund the complimentary tickets for children and families in our community. Because of your generosity, so many people were able to enjoy a special day out together who otherwise may not have had the opportunity. Your support truly made a difference.

Thank you to the team at the Lower Hutt Events Centre for hosting us and helping provide such a fantastic venue for the event. Your support behind the scenes helped make the day run smoothly for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to our club members who gave up their time to help make this amazing event happen. For some members, it was an incredibly long day with three performances, plus setup and pack down. Others had already been helping at community events earlier in the day before coming straight to Circus Quirkus. It was a fantastic team effort and something everyone is proud of.

And of course, thank you to the amazing Circus Quirkus crew, performers and backstage team for putting on such a spectacular show and for working alongside us to make the event such a success. The joy you brought to Wellington was unforgettable.

Wellington — thank you for being part of Circus Quirkus 2026. We had an absolute blast, and we hope you did too! 🎭🎉

🎪 LOST PROPERTY – Circus Quirkus 🎪

A few items were left behind after the fun and excitement of Circus Quirkus today! 👀

We’ve had the following handed in:
👢 A pair of gumboots
🥤 A pink drink bottle
🩴 One very lonely blue sandal
🦖 And a small, cute dinosaur pouch

Which means somewhere out there we potentially have:
👣 a child bravely taking on puddles without their gumboots,
🩴 someone hopping around with only one shoe,
💧 a very thirsty person missing their drink bottle, and
🦖 a dinosaur missing its human companion.

Hopefully these don’t all belong to the same person… because that sounds like a very rough trip home. 🚗

If any of these belong to you, they can be collected from the Lower Hutt Events Centre during opening hours.

Thanks again to everyone who came along and helped make the day so magical! 🎉

We've got all your snack needs sorted. Chips, drinks, lollies, everything you need to nibble on during the show.

All run by a group of volunteers, and every $$$ we get goes back to you, our community!

Come say Hi and buy some nibbles to nibble on during the performances.
