This National Volunteer Week, we'd like to give a shout out to our Pacific Advisory Group.

This wonderful group of volunteers provide VSA with advice and leadership on matters relating to Pasifika people in Aotearoa and in the countries which we operate. Together, they have a wide range of knowledge and experience and we greatly appreciate the insights they bring to VSA.

To our Pacific Advisory Group - Thank you!

This special shout out goes to all our wonderful VSA alumni and members who support VSA in Aotearoa.

Throughout the motu, VSA alumni and members come together to support VSA's work year round. Whether it be helping out at summer festivals, speaking to groups, clubs, or universities about VSA, or through creating whanaungatanga within the VSA alumni whanau. These special people not only help to raise awareness for volunteering for international development, but help to strengthen the VSA whanau in NZ, creating strong bonds that promote VSA's collective spirit.

To our VSA alumni and member superstars - Thank you!

This week we recognise National Volunteer Week, Aotearoa's largest annual celebration of volunteering!

Volunteers play a vital role in our society. They are the ones who connect people, whānau and organisations, strengthening the fabric of our communities.

Over sixty years, we've seen firsthand just how impactful volunteering for international development can be. Not only for the local communities where volunteers are placed, but also for the volunteers who come back changed and bring their experiences with them through the rest of their lives.

This week, VSA will be highlighting those who volunteer their time to make VSA what it is. ❤️

Every step of Tamara's assignment is about ensuring solutions do not just work today but for generations to come.

A donation to VSA, especially a regular donation, ensures that VSA volunteers can keep walking alongside communities, supporting solutions that are sustained long into the future.

🧡If you would like to play a part in ensuring that VSA can continue to support communities and contribute to locally led solutions in the wider Pacific, please consider donating at vsa.org.nz.

"Where the journey is hard, the reward is often deeper" 🧡

In Lakatoro, Vanuatu, access to running water is limited to just a few hours a day. Through a long-standing partnership with Vanuatu's Department of Water Resources, VSA volunteer Tamara Clarke is helping strengthen local water systems while building the skills and confidence of those who will manage them into the future 🤝

Working alongside local staff and communities, Tamara is supporting sustainable solutions, training water managers, and sharing technical expertise. Her contribution highlights how volunteer partnerships create lasting impact by investing not only in infrastructure, but in people and local capability👷🏼‍♀️
