Phoetic : A Shikoku Temple Pilgrimage

Phoetic : A Shikoku Temple Pilgrimage A pilgrimage for charity. 88 temples, 44 days.

四国88ヶ所、44日間の旅で毎日一人の募金を募っています。旅の途中で出会った様々な風景は写真集にして皆さんとシェアしたいと思います。 Now I finally have the chance!

On Shikoku island, Japan's 4th largest island, there is an ancient pilgrimage, a 1200km loop which passes by 88 buddhist temples. It's known locally as Hachijūhakkasho (八十八箇所). Pilgrims who follow the route are called o-henro, and are recognised by their distinctive white clothes and cone-shaped hat. Before I came to Japan, over 3 years ago in Ethiopia, I heard about this pilgrimage and resolved t

o hike it. Over October and November 2016 I will follow the route around the 88 temples. Will you share this journey with me? Japan is a land of surprises, textures of modernity and undiluted culture running parallel, a wallpaper of enchantment. My dream and goal is to hike around 88 temples, over 44 days, and try to capture the aromas of Shikoku in Photos and Poetry, producing a book titled "Phoetic".
