On Monday we held our Table Topics Extravaganza! 🎤✨

The highlight of the night was our Table Topics Battle, where we selected our Area Contest Representative.

🥇 Congratulations to Sergiu, voted #1 and now representing us at the Area Contest!
🥈 Well done to Clark, our strong 2nd place speaker.

The question they answered was:
“What is the most important quality in true friendship?” 💬

Thank you to everyone who came along to support our speakers 🙌

This Monday, we had our annual Wellington Toastmasters Social Night where we swapped out the usual Toastmasters format for some fun activities!

First up was a chain impromptu ⛓️‍💥 In teams of four, we tackled the question: What would you do if you were stranded on a deserted island? The answers were as creative and hilarious as you would expect.

Next, we did played reverse charades ✍️ Each team picked an “artist,” while the rest described a character without saying their name. We ended up with some great drawings of Doraemon, Marge Simpson, Sandy Cheeks and more!

Finally, we wrapped up with classic charades. One person guessed while the rest acted out prompts. The highlight was watching Tamsin and Cara act out changing a baby’s diapers 😂

After all the laughs, we went to Hei Restaurant to try their Wellington On A Plate menu, which was a hit with everyone 🍔

We had an amazing turnout of 16 people and a fantastic night of fun, connecting, and laughing 🎤

If you are keen to practise your speaking skills, build confidence, or simply meet new people, come along to one of our weekly Toastmasters meetings!

Mondays, 5:30–6:50 pm
St Peter’s Anglican Church, Garden Room (211 Willis St, entrance via Ghuznee St through the lawn).

Toastmasters Tip: Be Specific!

One of the best ways to make your message land is to keep it focused and on-topic.

✍️ Next time you speak, remember: clarity > clutter.
📌 Save this for your next speech prep!

🎯 Want to make a bigger impact when you speak? Keep it clear and focused. A strong message sticks when it stays on topic.

Last week, after our Annual Business meeting at which we elected our 16th Club Committee (including 3 new team members whose fresh and creative ideas we can't wait for!) WPTC headed out to celebrate the Club's 15th birthday together. It has evolved quite significantly in those 15 years, from struggling at around the half way mark to pulling through to be the vibrant Club we have at the 15 year milestone (as reflected in the smiles and laughter in the pics!). Bring on the next year!
