Open Doors began in 1955 when Brother Andrew began smuggling Bibles into Eastern Europe. Since then we have expanded to work in over 70 countries, providing Bibles, training and practical support to the persecuted church.

Please pray 🇨🇳

A pastor and several staff from a house church network in northern China have been arrested, placed in a detention centre, and deprived of communication with their families. They are now awaiting trial.

The group was arrested as they were planning a church event, but the situation seems to be more sinister than that.

“The pastor and his coworkers were not detained simply because they were preparing a Christian activity at that moment,” Joel*, an Open Doors local partner serving in the region, explains. “The authorities had already been monitoring their church, and this operation appears to have been carried out according to a predetermined list of individuals for detention.

“This house church has existed for many years, and because of its large number of believers, it has become a target of increased scrutiny and suppression.”

Please continue in prayer for believers in China facing tightening restrictions and heavier punishments for living out their faith.

🙏 Pray for the detained pastor and church workers. May God protect them both physically and spiritually. May He comfort them and strengthen their faith. May He also protect and comfort their families.

🙏 Pray for the house church they serve. May God empower the church with His strength. May He unite the believers with one heart as they face persecution together.

🙏 Pray for other house churches and believers in North China and across the country. Ask God to grant them protection and courage as they endure these challenges.

Relentless attacks in Nigeria’s northwest have left 5,400 believers traumatised and fighting for survival.

2026 started with the kidnapping of 177 churchgoers in Kaduna State. The violence and killings have continued every month since.

But the stats don’t tell the whole story.

Every number is a person like Sabina. She was kidnapped by extremists who brutally killed her husband and two of her children.

“We were chained like slaves,” she remembers. “They tortured us.”

Christians in Nigeria and across Africa are sick of pain and grief.

After seven long years, Sri Lanka’s government has taken serious steps to investigate the 2019 Easter Sunday massacre and deliver justice to survivors and the Christian community.

Fifteen men have been convicted and sentenced to a collective 220 years in prison. They face charges of murder, conspiracy, and illegal fi****ms possession linked to the attacks in Sri Lanka that targeted three churches and three hotels, killing over 200 people.

Former Intelligence Chief, Suresh Sallay, remains in custody, accused of orchestrating the bombings—allegations he firmly denies. Public Security Minister, Ananda Wijepala, believes Sallay worked directly with Islamic extremists prior to the attacks.

Investigations are ongoing and the Church demands full closure. Open Doors has journeyed closely with several families who lost loved ones in the attacks.

“After years of waiting, I welcome this significant verdict with gratitude for the legal accountability it finally brings,” one local partner says. “Yet, no ruling can ever compensate for the loss of a loved one, and I urge everyone to remember the grieving families in prayer during this painful time.”

After Joram* became a follower of Jesus in 2024, he rejected traditional practices causing backlash from his family and community. The backlash resulted in an attack on his local church sending his pastor into hiding.

Local Open Doors partners recently visited the church to provide training, counselling and prayer.

Nepal’s flash floods have left families grieving the loss of loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. Many are still sheltering in temporary centres and tents, facing an uncertain future.

Through local partners, urgent relief has been distributed to 300 affected families, including blankets, clothing, food supplies, and electric rice cookers. But the need for long-term support, safe shelter, and renewed hope remains.

Please continue to pray for all those affected by the devastating floods in Nepal.

Asabe’s husband and sons were killed horribly by extremists in northern Nigeria. Her grief was unbearable.

But the trauma care and biblical counselling she received through Open Doors marked a turning point.

Asabe is now rediscovering hope.

“The anger reduced, my bitterness reduced, and I have freedom,” she says quietly. “I realised forgiveness is impossible without God.”

Asabe’s healing continues—thanks to the love and care of supporters like you. Please pray for her and her remaining children. 🙏 ❤️

When extremist violence devastated his village in Burkina Faso, Pastor Bandiba (pictured) lost two young Christian leaders he had mentored, along with his home—and found himself struggling with profound grief.

When Open Doors partners heard what had happened, they offered help. Through your prayers and gifts, Open Doors partners provided trauma care that helped Bandiba and his wife begin to heal, forgive and rebuild their lives.

Today, that healing is helping him care for others:

“If you are not healed, you cannot help anyone else,” he says. “Now I am healed, and I am helping others.”

Your support is helping persecuted Christians like Bandiba find healing and become a source of hope for others.
