Runner up at Euroclash 2026 goes to Evan Sutherland with a Bière de Garde that gave the judges plenty to talk about.

Just announced to Euro-Clash - Homebrew Challenge in the last hour and we certainly did not see this one coming, but we are absolutely here for it and we are 100% psyched for tomorrows judging session.

Introducing the James Trophy.

Hand crafted by James himself from quality rimu wood, this mash paddle is a genuine one of a kind award. The rules are simple it can only be awarded by a James, to whoever a James decides has scored high enough on the James-Meter of excellence. No committee. No points system. Pure James energy and pure beer excellence.

This is the kind of thing that makes homebrew competitions special and we are stoked to have it as part of Euroclash 2026!

Stay tuned we have got more announcements dropping later this evening and tomorrow during judging day.

Introducing the most prestigious new award in New Zealand homebrew.

The Spoon.

Every competition has a last place right? Do we aim to take these honors? Absolutely not.. . So, this year we are making it official and giving it the recognition it deserves. One brave brew will take home the teaspoon and honestly, we reckon whoever wins it will showcase it like a badge of honour.
