This page has been created for those interested in becoming a member of Patriots DFMC-Wellington Chapter. Within Australasia the Patriots MC originated in Australia, with New Zealand’s first Chapter set up in Auckland in 1998. From there other chapters have opened up across NZ operating under a national Articles of Association and as a national club we have the honour of being recognised as the Ne
w Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) motorcycle club; Patriots DFMC NZ. Patriots DFMC NZ is a motorcycle club for current and ex-military service personnel (any nation) who share common ethos and values and a passion for riding motorcycles. While only full membership can be offered to those that are current or ex-military service personnel, Associate and Supporter membership is open to spouses/partners and or those that want to join the club but have no military background. Joining the Wellington Chapter of Patriots DFMC NZ:
In accordance with the national Articles of the Association, membership is not automatic. As we have the privilege of calling ourselves the DFMC, this comes with the responsibility of upholding the core ethos and values of the NZDF, and any breaches to this not only reflect on the club but also the NZDF. While the process may sound prolonged, if you like riding, military and motorcycle banter, just enjoy the ride, be yourself and it will happen. This process is two-fold as it not only gives the club an opportunity to get to know you but it also gives you a chance to see if the club is a good fit for you. What are we looking for:
All the club is looking for is that you are a safe rider and can follow club rules and directions. If you’re an inexperienced rider and or not familiar with riding in a group, one of the clubs Road Captains will be able to mentor you and offer guidance. Any guidance given is constructive in nature and is only ever aimed at improving riding skills or for the safety of yourself and others on a ride and should never be taken as criticism. A good rider is one that never stops learning. Club Rides and Ride calendar
As a Chapter the Club generally meets on the first Sunday of every month unless this coincides with a public holiday or event. The Patriots badge has a very special meaning to us. Firstly, the skull represents those service personnel who have paid the ultimate price serving our country, and the red represents the blood they spilt doing so. The beret is a headdress worn, at times, by all three Services at home in New Zealand or on operations, and the colour black represents mourning. By way of contrast, white is the colour of peace, the ultimate goal all our members have fought or served for . Finally, the three services are represented with very traditional emblems. An anchor of the Navy, swords for Army, and wings for the Air Force. We wear this badge with pride and honour on the left hand side of our vests over the heart. Non Backpatch. We are not a “backpatch” or 1% club and do not associate or follow any of these clubs or their guidelines. We do not condone any association of our members, whilst wearing Patriots regalia, with these types of clubs. Thanks for stopping by, and we look forward to riding with you.
