On behalf of Action Station - on Thursday 2 July 2026 12.30pm-3pm, there is a gathering at Parliament in Pōneke/Wellington to hand over our petition calling on MPs to stop the Disability Support Services Bill and protect disabled people’s human rights, Te Tiriti, and our UNCRPD obligations.

The grounds are booked from 1-3pm to allow people time to arrive, gather, talk and also leave but handover of the petition and speeches will be between 1-2pm.

This bill will deeply harm disabled people and their families. It gives Ministers sweeping powers over disability support funding, makes families and whānau the “first line” of care, and restricts our ability to challenge discrimination and unfair decisions through the courts. It breaches our obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act.

Disability funding and disabled New Zealanders and their whānau rights are under attack!
Follow the link below if you would like to learn more about what the Government is proposing to do to Disability funding and the Disability support system and to sign a petition against the proposed changes.

Here is a message from Action Station:
"We’re calling on Parliament to scrap the Disability Support Services
Bill entirely. Any law that takes rights away from disabled people and carers should never be allowed. This bill is fundamentally
discriminatory and must not go ahead.

This bill will strip disabled people and their carers of legal rights
that other New Zealanders still have. It cancels existing court cases,
denies access to justice, and treats disabled people and their whānau as less than equal under the law...."
