A great reminder of the power of our art form as we approach International Dance Day.
In her message for 2026, choreographer Crystal Pite captures the complex feelings so many of us have about creating and moving in today's world, reminding us that "art, like hope, is a form of love."
We highly recommend reading her full message shared by the World Dance Alliance below.
How are you celebrating the power of dance this month?
Happy International Dance Day 2026, coming soon on 29 April!
The global message for this year's IDD is from Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite:
" Daily, as we witness the horror of what humans are capable of doing to each other and the machinery of power that funds and fuels unspeakable violence to people and planet, dance feels like a facile, useless response. It’s hard to imagine what a dance artist can do in a world that so badly needs radical change and healing.
"And yet - art, like hope, is a form of love."

The message is available in multiple languages.
World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific is proud to be a partner of ITI in supporting and promoting International Dance Day. The intention of the International Dance Day Message is to celebrate dance, revel in the universality of this art form, cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers, and bring people together with a common language - dance.
