Thanks to all that supported and donated!

🦁 Last night Waiuku Lions donated the funds raised from the recent Variety Show - a total of $5500 to our local coastguard towards their new boat build 🦁 (L-R) Waiuku Lion Kerry Dean, with Coastguard president Karl Dickey along with Tony Jefferies, also David Smith from Smithies Garden Centre 🦁

Weather has resulted in the Port Waikato lead marks no longer lining up with the safest line of travel when crossing the bar.

This sécurité can also be heard on Coastguard Nowcasting Channel 79.

Jenni Smith along with a number of other artists are putting on an evening show to help fundraise towards this.

What a stunning weekend to be on the water!

We took out Counties energy rescue (CER) to support the Waiuku Scout club in their raft building and race. We also tried to paddle CER but the scouts were faster than us.

Also it was great to see so many from Counties sports fishing club on the water getting involved in the Fish n chicks tournament. We love seeing so many enjoying the water and most of all being safe!

Last night, on Christmas Day, at around 6.25pm, Police alerted emergency services, including Coastguard, to a jetski incident near Port Waikato involving three people. One person was reported missing.

Waiuku Coastguard, with five volunteers on board NZ Steel Rescue, launched from Hoods Landing and searched along the Waikato River, with weather and sea conditions preventing any search beyond the Port Waikato bar. This morning, volunteers from Auckland Coastguard Air Patrol joined the search for the missing person.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the missing individual. We will continue to support Police in the search over the coming days.

A special acknowledgment to all our volunteers and staff who responded to this incident, as well as others across the motu this Christmas. Thank you for your sacrifice and dedication to helping others on the water. 🧡
