E Tū Wairoa

E Tū Wairoa Addressing family violence abuse with a range of prevention, early intervention, and post-vention initiatives and services.

E Tū Wairoa is a local network aiming to address family violence here in Wairoa. Our aim is to provide a strengths based, tikanga Māori approach to encourage and support whānau in Wairoa to live violence free lives. We will be responsible for providing a range of prevention, early intervention, and post-vention initiatives and services for Wairoa. We are currently in the process of:
-establishing

kaupapa Māori Family Violence Intervention Programmes to meet the needs of our whānau
-establishing a vulnerable children’s model of case management
-promoting positive role models in our community
-developing a plan to embed the E Tū Wairoa values across the community
-participating in national days/campaigns to support the awareness raising of stopping violence in Wairoa

So let's E Tū Wairoa! And show that we're against family violence abuse in OUR town.

💫 2025 MATARIKI 💫

An E Tū Wairoa Initiative proved to be a successful day for our team at Enabled Wairoa. Our values shone through from the planning, preparation, and ex*****on of our day.

We kicked things off bright and early at 5 AM to get our kai cooking. Our kaimahi, Johno, started us off with a Matariki Presentation, diving into the whakapapa and meaning behind Matariki. ✨ Samm our E Tū Wairoa Coordinator led an activity where we all shared our own definitions of our values. Jess delivered a raranga workshop, we all learnt the tikanga of raranga, ending with us weaving our own star. 🌟

We wrapped up our day with a delicious hangi prepared by us all 🍽️

It was a day full of, aroha, tikanga, whakapapa, mana manaaki, kōrero awhi, and whanaungatanga. 🌈

Thank you to our whānau that contributed the hangi cookers, without the cookers this event wouldnt have been possible

Thank you to our whānau that provided their time to make our yummy steam pudding, they were thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Thank you to our team at Enabled Wairoa for all the support and help given throughout the duration of preparation, this provided an opportunity for team bonding and further strengthening our relationships.

The Enabled Wairoa Team and their whānau thoroughly enjoyed their first Wairoa Xmas Parade last Saturday out and about with our hapori and in the glorious sun!
Our E Tū Wairoa Team lead and created our Kiwiana-inspired Xmas Float with our Values standing out around our truck!
Overall, it was a great Saturday spent at the Wairoa Xmas Parade.

An enjoyable Saturday spent a Te Wairoa Pā Haka Festival at Rangiahua Marae for Samm and Johno among our Hapori. The weather was stunning and the Hakas just topped it off. Whānau and tamariki were welcomed to our gazebo with some activities to do and goodie bags up for grabs. Excellent day had by all.
