Kia ora CHB!

Quick update from the Before They Know It team: we’re still tracking along behind the scenes getting approvals, paperwork, and all the boring-but-important stuff sorted. Good things take time 🌻

While we’re doing that, we need your help with something fun!

DESIGN THE BTKI LOGO 🛠️🧹🌿

What is Before They Know It?
We’re a community crew that shows up for people doing it tough. Yard clean ups. House cleans. Garden rescue. The stuff that piles up when life gets overwhelming.

Most of our cases get nominated by neighbours, friends, or whānau who see someone struggling and want to give them a hand... 'before they know it'

*The logo brief:*
- Should feel: Neighbourly, hopeful, hands-on. This is mates helping mates.
- Preferably not AI, we want this coming from the heart! ❤️
- Must work small: social profile pic + on the back of a hi-vis vest, flyers, stickers - you get the idea!
- Vibe: CHB community getting stuck in together
- Ideas to play with: hands, houses, gardens, brooms, koru, intertwined circles... but we’re open to anything that says “we’ve got you”

The prize:
Your design becomes the official face of BTKI. We’ll shout you coffee + sweet treat from a local cafe, put your name on our website when it launches, and you get lifetime legend status.

How to enter:
1. Sketch, design, paint, or digitally create a logo
2. Email it to us or PM this page by the 30th of June 2026.
3. We’ll shortlist the top 3 + let CHB vote for the winner 🏆

No fancy design software needed. Kids’ drawings, napkin sketches, Canva — all welcome. If it comes from the heart, we want to see it.

Did you know that our aim for Before They Know It is to be community-driven and fully funded by generous donations from our amazing community and local businesses 🙌.

What does that mean for you?

It means that all the help we provide - from dump runs to garden tidy-ups, painting, and cleaning - is completely FREE to those who need it most. Our local businesses are donating their time, skills, and resources to make a real difference in our community 💗.

We're not a government-funded initiative or a profit-driven organisation... yet! We're working towards applying for council funding to help us expand our services and reach more people in need, but for now, we're relying on the kindness of our community 🌼.

*Here's how you can help:*
- Donate to our BTKI bank account when it is up and running.
- Like, share, and promote our posts and page to spread the word
- If you're a local business (café, restaurant, etc.), we love collaborations! Cater for our volunteers or offer entertainment for families while we work our magic at their homes 😊
- Nominate someone who could use a helping hand, or get in touch if you'd like to get involved

We've all been there - life gets overwhelming, and our surroundings start to feel like a weight is bearing down on us. It's easy to feel embarrassed or scared to ask for help, but that's where we come in 😊.

Before They Know It is a community-driven initiative dedicated to lending a helping hand to those who need it most. We've teamed up with awesome local businesses to offer a range of services, including:
- Dump runs to clear out clutter
- Yard work and garden tidy-ups
- Painting and repairs
- Fence fixes
- Cleaning services to get homes sparkling again

If you know someone in your family, neighbourhood, or street who could use a hand, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help, no judgement, no fuss 💗.
