Surfers, fishermen, birds, and runners belong on the beach.
Not vehicles.

Cars should ONLY be allowed on the beach to:
1. Launch boats and,
2. Allow people with disability access

We are reviewing our Control of Vehicles on Beaches Bylaw. We want to hear your views on how much vehicle access you think is appropriate on Whangārei District beaches. Have your say by Sunday 15 February 2026.

When plastic was first introduced it was embraced BIG time. “So easy, so convenient, so light, doesn’t rust, doesn’t break, plastic…fantastic.”
Consider basic things like kitchen tools, baby paraphernalia and most packaged foods.
Everything that was previously made with materials like timber, metal or glass was efficiently replaced with plastic.
And now we have a calamity. Plastic has worked its way into our homes, our soils, our marine environment, our gut and almost everywhere else.

Take a minute to read this clip from Wirecutter (NY Times) to see where we can easily eliminate it.

Microplastics may contribute to heart disease, lung disorders, and other health problems. Use these 12 tips to reduce your exposure.

Great to see kiwis realising the real dangers of glyphosate, the fact it’s banned in many countries for good reason and voting NO.

WE WON!

The government just announced that glyphosate limits in our grains will remain LOW and pre-harvest spraying is BANNED.

When they proposed increasing chemical residues by 100-fold, New Zealanders said NO WAY.

3,100+ voices spoke up. The government listened.

This is what happens when New Zealanders stand together for clean food and healthy soil.

Thank you to every single person who submitted, shared petitions, and stood up for chemical-free food.

This is YOUR victory 💚

If you care about our ocean and the species inhabiting it - next time you dine out and order fish…check if it’s LINE caught & if not, maybe eat something else. ⭐️

TRAWLING wrecks our marine environment…but NZ still does it 🤬
