Hi everyone, Rocky here.
It’s another chilly Sunday here at the sanctuary, and Mum has all of us oldies tucked up in our warm beds. I’m quite happy about that arrangement! I’ve had breakfast, fresh water, a wander around the paddock, and even managed a little canter today. That’s enough excitement for one day.
The thing is, I’m only about 8 years old, so I’m not really an old man yet. Unfortunately, I injured myself when I was younger, and over the years my hips have become quite sore.
Mum took me to the vet recently, and the news wasn’t exactly what we hoped for. The vets found arthritis and reduced range of motion in both of my hips.
But Mum looked at me and saw a dog who still loves his food, still enjoys a little run around the paddock, still wags his tail when he sees his people, and still has plenty of love left to give.
So instead of giving up, we’re going to try a pain management plan. That means x-rays, medications, ongoing veterinary support, and careful management to keep me comfortable and enjoying life for as long as possible.
Now I need your help.
The reality is that ongoing treatment costs money, and Mum is already trying to care for so many of my senior mates who also need veterinary treatment and medication. We need help to pay the vet bills for my pain relief, ongoing medications, follow-up appointments, and the care I will need moving forward.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping me stay comfortable, mobile, and enjoying life.
Many years ago, when the call came asking if I needed somewhere to go, Mum didn’t hesitate. She said yes straight away. Dad loved his black and brown Labs, and the minute I arrived he decided I was his boy. I’ve been loved ever since.
I’m not asking for miracles. Just a little help so I can keep enjoying my paddock adventures, my warm bed, and the people I love.
If you’d like to sponsor part of my pain relief plan or make a donation towards my vet care, Mum and I would be forever grateful!
Because I’m not ready to stop living yet.
Love,
