We are a netball club in Wainuiomata that strives to increase and sustain club membership from Wainuiomata and around Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

As we begin planning for the 2027 season, we are inviting Expressions of Interest from anyone keen to coach or manage any team next year.

While some returning coaches and managers have already expressed interest in continuing in their roles, we are now seeking Expressions of Interest for current vacancies and potential future opportunities.

With the continued growth of our club, additional teams may be formed and further coaching and manager opportunities could become available.

𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝟯: 𝘜𝘗𝘋𝘈𝘛𝘌 𝘍𝘖𝘙 𝘛𝘖𝘔𝘖𝘙𝘙𝘖𝘞

With the weather forecast not looking too promising, we will make a decision by 𝟴:𝟬𝟬𝗔𝗠 tomorrow regarding whether outdoor games will go ahead. Please keep an eye on this page for updates.

If outdoor games are cancelled, the show will still go on! 🎉

Our Plan B is to run Netball Skills & Drills Clinics in Gym 2. The schedule will remain the same, and during your child's usual game time, they will instead take part in a fun skills and drills session designed to keep them active, learning, and enjoying their netball.

We are also fortunate to be hosting our Kokiri Marae Health & Social Services. whānau, who will be set up in the gym foyer/green room throughout the day. They will be available to share information about the services and support they provide for whānau in our community, so please take the opportunity to stop by and have a chat while you're here.

Wainuiomata Newspaper Wednesday 30 September issue 😎🗞

𝗨𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗶 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀

The Ulalei Netball Primary School League has provided an opportunity for the older siblings to coach and mentor their younger brothers and sisters.

It has been fantastic to see representative players returning to help develop the younger netballers. Among them is Malika Papali'i who is coached by her older sisters Vaiola and Athena. Vaiola played for Ulalei Ifilele this year while Athena played in the 2026 Wellington Under 16s representative team.

Te Waipuna Wilson and Amiria Wilson are both benefiting from the guidance of older brother Desire who represented New Zealand in the Under 19 Mixed Indoor team earlier this year. His experience and encouragement are helping to build confidence and skills in the next generation.

The family connections continue with Aries Te Aorangi Kirk-Thompson being coached by her sister Rose who played in the Hutt Valley Under 16s representative team and played for the successful Ulalei Fuesina championship-winning team.
After spending the winter season on the sidelines watching their older siblings and parents play and coach, it was now their turn to take centre court and be coached by those they look up to most.

One parent commented "Loved seeing all our older girls teaching the next generation. What an amazing netball club we are part of to provide these opportunities for our tamariki"

The excitement surrounding the season has been evident both on and off the court. One parent shared that her daughter was so excited to play netball she woke up early, with her gear already prepared the night before.

🚲 Bikes & 🐕 Dogs
To help keep everyone safe and ensure the courts remain clear for play:

No bikes are to be ridden on the courts.
Dogs must be kept off the courts at all times.

We appreciate your support with this.

💧 Water Bottles
We noticed a few tamariki without water bottles last week. Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle each Saturday, especially if the weather is warm.

Water fountains are available around the school, including one inside the gym, should bottles need refilling.

𝗨𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗶 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀

The launch of the Ulalei Netball Primary School League was a fantastic success, bringing together rangatahi, whānau and the wider Wainuiomata community to support over 160 tamariki playing netball.

Community support for the Ulalei Primary School League continues to grow, with more organisations coming on board alongside Wainuiomata High School, Ulalei Wainuiomata Sports and Nuku Ora. Kokiri Marae Health and Social Services generously donated the Player of the Day prizes, while Amilagi Island Cuisine and Tu Kotahi Māori Asthma Trust and Research helped keep players fuelled by providing fresh fruit throughout the day and contributed to supplies for the sausage sizzle.

Wainuiomata High School generously opened its netball courts for the competition. Sports Coordinator Peter Cowan said, “It is great the netball courts have been utilised by the community. They have been here for well over 50 years. Some of the parents played on these courts when they were kids.” He added that the courts could do with a spruce up, but it was wonderful to see them once again being enjoyed by the whole community.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing rangatahi step up to coach and umpire games, while current Ulalei players took their turn mentoring and coaching the younger players. Their leadership helped create a positive and supportive environment.

Players were also treated to visits from Silver Ferns Saviour Tui and Central Pulse and New Zealand Secondary Schools representative Fo'i Lemana who shared their skills and experience. Their presence provided inspiration for the young players and the rangatahi coaches and umpires, showing them what is possible through dedication and hard work.

The successful launch has set the stage for the next four weeks of the league and highlighted how a community coming together can create opportunities for its tamariki to thrive.
