PSA — Christmas shutdown!!

We have been limping towards the finish line for a few weeks now, anyone else feeling like that?!

So bring on the downtime, the fresh air, the lazy days, the beach days, the family time, the sandy feet and the space to think up a kick-ass 2025.

Kapiti Muse will be closed until Monday 20 January. Catch you on the flipside! 💙

We’re officially 27 days from daylight savings! It’s time to break out of those grey track pants (we have nothing against them, per se), pack a lunchbox, and head to Mahara Place for a daily perch at one of our co-working desks.

It’s a case of come as you are, with large screens to plug into, WIFI, options to sit or stand, and fresh coffee beans at the ready.

Think of it as your drop-in studio on the (Mahara) Square for a change of scene and a yarn at the water cooler.

*Disclaimer: we don’t actually have a water cooler

Oh hey, it’s us — Claire and Jess 👋

We’ve been occupying a wee corner of Mahara Place in Waikanae for more than a year now as Kāpiti Muse, and at least once a week we tell each other that we love having this space to get sh*t done!

Mahara Place and its surroundings has been a bone of contention for the local community for a wee while. Empty shops. The library saga. Roadworks. Internet problems. More roadworks. Parking. Oh and did we mention roadworks?

But we wanted to share with you some observations from our little corner overlooking the square. In the 18 months that we’ve occupied an office on level 1 at 4 Mahara Place, we have seen a noticeable increase in the hustle and bustle around here. Shops have closed, but more shops have opened, and–yes–there are still some empty spaces around, but there’s a busyness in the air, and that feels good.

There are places to buy things, places to eat, many places to stop for coffee, lots of options to get life admin sorted, new murals, beautiful spaces to browse and peruse, and spots to perch and soak up the sunshine.

So this is an appreciation post. For Mahara Place, for Waikanae township, for the people who are hustling, the people who are visiting, and the positivity that all of this offers to us business owners 🧡

At Kāpiti Muse we’re creating a boutique co-working studio where sole traders or employees who work from home can drop into a shared space for a change of environment, a friendly face, a great hot cup of something, or a cosy corner to park up and do your thing!

We offer day passes, 10 trips, and have space for one more permanent regular too!

Our meeting room is suitable for up to six with everything you need to cater for your visitors or clients-including a large whiteboard for thrashing those solutions and ideas 💡

Reach out or pop in for a trial if you’re keen to check out the space.

Muse is a place for locals to reconnect, collaborate, and get sh*t done 💙🧡

Meet the regulars!

This is Jess, one of the two humans who got Muse up and running in early 2023.

Jess works within both the communications and music worlds. Her business Deacon Rd. is a communications studio with a focus on copywriting, storytelling and strategy for all kinds of businesses around Aotearoa.

She is also behind Mostly Music – Kāpiti’s guide to local music (check it out!) and is a musician, vocal and performance coach.

Jess is a strong advocate for artists of all kinds being valued for their contributions to the world and is always up for a chat about why this is so important.

Living nearby means Jess lives the dream of walking to the office and checking out the goings on in and around Mahara Place which is slowly but surely becoming more alive!

It sure has been a whirlwind start to 2024. Here’s to the long weekend ahead!

Kāpiti Muse has now closed its door for Easter, but there’s lots going on around Mahara Place over the next few days — including the Waikanae Easter Market on Saturday with craft stalls, live music and local businesses getting involved too. Get amongst!

Wishing you some R&R and lots of chocolate coming your way! 🐣🐰🍫
