Day Three Pool Champs wrapped up!!

Very proud of our senior/master athletes who finished their competition today with fabulous effort and more podium finishes 🔥🔥

Congratulations to Christiaan Maarhuis who added more medals to his collection in the Masters 45-49 Male. Christiaan claimed TWO more GOLDS in the 50m Manikin Carry and the 100m Manikin Tow. Along with a SILVER in the 50m Fins. 🥇🥇🥈

Also a shout out to Max Page, Kees Miller and Kian Rangihika who had some outstanding results in a very tough age group, including multiple 4th and 5th finishes. 🤍💙

Day Two AON National Pool Rescue Champs update!!

We are Waihi-Beach-proud of our Juniors who wrapped up today with more outstanding performances and smiles all round, including a few more podiums 👏

Congrats go out to:
Chloe Gant - 3rd U12 50m Obstacles 🥉
Ayla Rangihika, Abigael Cooper, Chloe Gant and Beau MacDuff - 3rd in 4x50m Obstacles Relay 🥉

In the Masters age group Christiaan Maarhuis' medal streak continues with GOLD in the 45-49 Male 100m Obstacles 🥇

Special mention to our three Seniors who are out there giving it their all against some serious competition - and having a ball 🏅Love your work 💙

Our Junior, Senior and Masters team are having a blast at the AON National Pool Rescue Championships 2026. Day One saw outstanding performances across the board with heaps of PBs and some national placings!

Congrats to Chloe Gant - 3rd U12 Brick Carry and 1st U12 Fins. And a huge shout out to Beau MacDuff who just missed out on a placing in the Brick Carry, coming home 4th. Sooo close...

Plus our Masters phenomenon that is Christiaan Marrhuis scored 1st in the 45-49 Manikin Carry with Fins 👏👏👏

There was also lots of fun and tight finishes in the team events with our U12s smashing the brick relay, finishing 3rd.

The future is looking bright for surf lifeguarding at Waihi Beach! Well done to everyone. Bring on Day Two.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the engine workshop at the weekend with Dave Hickey. It was a great hands-on session, giving members the opportunity to learn more about IRB engines while carrying out servicing work at the same time.
