🐰⏰ The Easter Bunny might be struggling to reach the smoke alarm… but you don’t have to!

When daylight saving ends, it’s the perfect reminder to check your smoke alarms. Press the test button, make sure they’re working, and keep your whānau safe.

✔️ Test your alarms by pressing the test button. Use a broom handle if you can't reach.
✔️ Change batteries if needed
✔️ Check the expiry date
✔️ Make sure everyone knows the sound

A small check can make a big difference. Don’t leave it to the Bunny! 🐣🔥

🐣Some might be excited about Easter eggs this weekend… but we’re pretty excited about this.

From fundraising by a pretty special community to reality — and something we can all be proud of.

Waiau Volunteer Fire Brigade Medical Response vehicle 6833 is officially on station and ready to respond — serving our people when it matters most.

Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts to get this on the road — we couldn’t have done it without you all!

Volunteers wear so many hats. A big shout out to all the people that over the years have helped or are helping with the Waiau School Trail ride.

🔥 Spot the issue?

Yeah… the hydrant is in there somewhere. 🕵️

We get it — gardens grow fast and hydrants are easy to forget about. But when we pull up to a fire at 2am, “it’s under the hedge somewhere” isn’t really the vibe we’re going for. 😅

So here’s a small ask — adopt the hydrant near your place.

🌿 If the garden’s winning, give it a quick trim.

🎨 If the paint’s seen better days, call Hurunui District Council. Or use the Snap, Send, Solve app

🚨 If the lid’s done a runner, let Hurunui District Council know.

A clear hydrant means we hit the ground running instead of playing Where’s Wally on your front lawn.

It takes five minutes. It could save a house. 🏠💧

Day time, night time, any time. The siren goes and volunteers stop what they are doing (even if it’s snoring in bed at 1 am) and head to station.
