Franklin Acclimatisation Society Inc Looking after the interested of Game Bird Hunters & Freshwater Sports Fishing in the Franklin area. In 1973 the club had a membership of 532.

Currently the Franklin Acclimatisation Society is associated with the Auckland Waikato Fish and Game Council. Game bird Hunting & Trout Fishing are managed by Fish & Game with input from clubs like ours. Prior to Fish & Game it was the Auckland Acclimatisation Society hence our current name. The Franklin Acclimatisation Sub-society started in 1933 with earlier origins the Waiuku Rod & Gun Club starting in 1912.

Check out the Lower Waikato River Trout Fishing competition 8-11 October 2026. A great opportunity to get involved and have a crack at some of the monster brown trout in the lower river downstream of Karapiro Dam to the Waikato Heads.
