Upper Hutt Autism Group This is a group for autistic people and their whanau. We help stop isolation and loneliness in families living with autism.

Each month we have a number of groups to share what's been happening with others who understand, don't judge and just...get it.

Teen art is back, with a range of different art options from painting to flower creation, and airdry clay. What creativity you feel like is (hopefully) available, but if you'd like something then let us know and we will see what we can do.

The other exciting thing is this will now be run by G16's resident artist Alison Rush. See her work on her page AM Rush Artist. But what UHAG says about Alison is: she is kind, caring, knows painting from house to miniature, carves stone, explores art in every way, and is happy to adapt to what people in her groups want to create while supporting them with her knowledge. And she loves the sensory swing at UHAG HQ.

Tonight is our monthly support meeting for parents and carers. Come and share the good and the challenging. Facilitated by Judi, our founder and mother of an autistic champion. Judi has knowledge of the system and services available in the area, and has worked with autistic families for over 10 years in both New Zealand and Australia.

Tomorrow is Art n Social, an art group for autistic adults to come and do art for themselves, it's not a class, it doesn't need to be art that someone else wants you to do. There are options but they are there to create your own art. Support people are welcome, art options available are: colouring (for when creating is simply picking colours), painting (acrylic and watercolours), felting, jewelry making, something with wool (we have 1 crochet hook), pens, pencils, air dry clay.
There are even some DnD trees to decorate for the DnD sessions.

Art group this week is all about dragons and maps, painting dragons, making puppet dragons, dragons of all descriptions....

Sometimes we just need to share with parents who get it. Parents who understand the trials and the celebrations. That is what Muffin Stuffin is all about. Sharing over a hot drink and a little something yummy (supplied by Good Bi***es Baking).
Theres no pressure to talk, but even just listening helps, so come and meet with others that get it.

Starting on Friday the 22nd May. Nicholas Ward will be running DND sessions at UHAG HQ.
Nicholas comes to UHAG with 20 years of DND dungeon master experience, kindness ability and understanding.

Parent supervision is required for those under 14, and participation is encouraged. DND is an all-ages game, and Nicholas is a supportive and kind DM.
Initial meeting will be to set up characters. All sheets and (hopefully) models supplied.
