Our Venturers have had an awesome time building their raft, which they put to the test on Te Awa Kairangi today. Thankfully the raft stayed afloat, and they were treated to stunning weather for their adventure. A great day out and a fantastic effort from the team!

On February 22nd we celebrate Founder’s Day — a special time to acknowledge and honour the achievements of our rangatahi and Kaiārahi. It’s a chance to reflect on the lasting impact of the Scout Movement, founded by Robert Baden-Powell, and the positive difference it continues to make in the lives of young people.

A heartfelt thank you to all our youth members and Kaiārahi for the countless volunteer hours you dedicate to scouting. Your commitment, energy and passion make everything we do possible.

What an epic weekend of experiences for our youth! 🌿

For many, it was their very first overnight camp — and what a way to start! From pitching tents and tramping and swimming at Kaitoke, to making s’mores, sharing plenty of food, and building new friendships, it was a weekend full of adventure and connection.

When the youth evaluated the camp, the majority said they loved everything about it! Some are already asking to camp for longer next time… and a few would just prefer a little less wind overnight 😄

A huge thank you to our amazing parents and dedicated leaders who gave up their weekend to make this happen. We couldn’t provide these incredible opportunities and memories without you. 💛

A massive shout out to Jarvis Plumbing + Gasworks for sorting us out with hot water, brand new vanities, and upgraded toilet systems!

They smashed it all out in just two days, and our Scout Den is now a much safer and more functional space for our youth.

If you need any plumbing or gas fitting work done, definitely hit them up — we highly recommend their team.

Weekend Working Bee Wrap-Up

A big, productive weekend at the den with painting, cleaning, water blasting, pallet removal, tip runs, and a full general tidy-up completed. A solid effort of 10 hours’ work saw a huge amount achieved.

A massive thank you to our amazing families and helpers who gave up their time — your support makes all the difference.

We had 104 participants from across our zone — an amazing sight to see!

I’m incredibly proud of all our Heretaunga Keas and Cubs. You truly lived the Scout Law and Promise and represented our group with pride and passion. 🌟
