โš ๏ธ Tuesday's swells could be among the largest seen in recent years across the Wellington Region coastline. If your property has been affected by previous swell events, now is the time to prepare.

๐ŸŒŠ Places you know well can look very different when large swells arrive, with waves reaching further up beaches, paths and rocky shorelines than usual.

Here are some actions you can take tonight:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Move items from exposed garages and low-lying areas.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Prepare a grab bag.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Plan where you would stay if your property becomes unsafe.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Bring pets inside.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Check on neighbours.

๐Ÿ“The waves are expected to arrive from early on Tuesday morning, with the largest waves expected from 10am-1.30pm.

Last weekโ€™s flooding was tough on everyone in our community, but sticking together and supporting each other is what we do.
Our NZRT team worked along side Upper Hutt City Council carrying out the tasks needed to help keep people safe.
This included monitoring rivers and streams, checking known flood-prone areas, and constantly tracking changing water levels as conditions shifted.
We were also out on the roads, driving affected areas where fallen trees and debris were creating hazards, clearing what we could to help keep routes safe and accessible.
It was a long and challenging few nights for many, but it also showed the strength of our community, people looking out for each other, staying patient, and working together.
Weโ€™re proud to play our part when it matters most.
