🏡😻 SUCCESSFUL ADOPTIONS! 😻🏡

Alfie and Daisy arrived almost a year ago as tiny kittens from different litters. Each was the shyest of their siblings, and while their brothers and sisters were quickly chosen for homes, these two were sadly left behind.

After living in neighbouring cages, Alfie and Daisy would smooch and rub against the wire, wanting to befriend one another. The volunteers trialled them in conjoining apartments, and their bond only grew stronger. They became best friends, cuddling and sleeping together as if they'd been family all along.

We are very, very happy to share that Alfie and Daisy have finally gone to their forever home together where they will continue to be best friends forever!

Well done beautiful babies, you are already so, so loved! We are eternally proud of you - have the best lives together!

🏡😻 SUCCESSFUL ADOPTION! 😻🏡

Ruby had been with us for a few months after her guardian had passed away. Slowly, most of the cats around her started getting adopted, and she ended up being one of the last cats in our care.

After waiting so patiently, and slowly blossoming in her own way, she finally got chosen!

We are so, so ecstatic to say that today Ruby went to her forever home!

You will be so loved and we are so proud of you miss Ruby.

We love you endlessly - have the best life beautiful angel! 🩷

🏡😻 SUCCESSFUL ADOPTION! 😻🏡

Knox (aka Smoochie) was our oldest resident at 14 years of age and had been with us for a few months after hanging around someone's house as a stray.

After her microchip was scanned, her original guardians were found, but after 6 years apart, they weren't in a position to take her back.

Today, we are so very happy to share that Knox has now gone to her forever home where she has already settled in within a few hours!

Have the best life beautiful Knox. We love you so much and we know you are going to be very well cared for 🩷

🏡😻 SUCCESSFUL ADOPTION! 😻🏡

Jiji had been with us for a whole year while we were figuring out what triggered her skin sensitivity and what could be done to manage it. After being on the right food and medicine for a while, her skin improved a lot!

378 days later, Jiji has now found her perfect forever home! We are SOOOO happy for you Miss Jiji! You are going to be endlessly loved, and we are going to miss you so much - but we are so proud!

Have the best life sweet lady. We love you 🩷

UPDATE: Jiji has found her forever home!

🩷 PLEASE DON'T FORGET ME! 🩷

🐈‍⬛ My name is Jiji (female, 8) and I'm one of the last cats left at UHFCT before they close forever.

I’m a super friendly, relaxed girl with the affectionate personality so many people want in a cat. I love cuddles, lap time, pats, and playing with toys!

I thought I’d find a home quickly, but I have sensitive skin, and some people hesitate when they hear that. It makes me very sad because I can't help the way I am 😿. Some foods just make me extremely itchy, kind of like eczema or dermatitis in humans.

To keep my skin comfortable, I eat special vet food (which I love!) and have a liquid medicine given once daily. I don’t mind it at all, and it’s easy for the volunteers to give me.

My medicine costs about $41 every 3 months, and my food is around $25-$30 per week depending on where it’s bought. As an incentive, UHFCT will cover the first 6 months of my food and medication, after which my new person would need to take over. I may need these for life, but I don’t mind. I’m just grateful my skin isn’t itchy anymore!

In my forever home, I’ll need to be an indoor kitty so I don’t eat anything I shouldn’t. I don’t mind other cats and may be able to live with them, as long as I can’t access their food. My experience with dogs is unknown, so that would depend on the situation.

I love people so much, I just wish I could join someone's family forever 😿

🩷 If you'd like to meet me, please send my friends a Facebook message to arrange a visit. I'd be so grateful 🩷

UPDATE: Knox has now found her forever home!

🩷🐈‍⬛ PLEASE DON'T FORGET ME 🐈‍⬛ 🩷

As you may know already, UHFCT is unfortunately closing down and there are still cats looking for their forever homes.

🐈‍⬛ My name is Knox and I'm one of these remaining kitties. I'm a 14 year old lady with the softest heart and the sweetest soul. My nickname is Smoochie for a reason - I'm incredibly affectionate, I love pats, head boops, and will purr endlessly when I get attention!

Some people see my age as a barrier, but I'm in good health. I don't have a need for any medication or prescription food and have also recently had a booster vaccination and a dental clean. I'm ready for my new person to choose me!

While I love people, I'm not a fan of other cats. A quiet home would be best for me without any other pets. I may be okay with some children, depending on the situation, but a quiet place to call my own would be the preference.

I'm sad that I'm still here. I've had a couple of visitors, but I guess I wasn't the one. Maybe no one wants me 😿

🩷 If you'd like to meet me, please send my friends a Facebook message to arrange a visit. I'd be so grateful 🩷

🏡😻 SUCCESSFUL ADOPTION! 😻🏡

A very, very special adoption to celebrate today - our longest resident Cecil (aka CC)!

Cecil had been with us for the past 6 years, initially deemed as a permanent resident because of his unique spiciness.

Recently, he became available for adoption but didn't have as much interest as we'd hoped.

Last week, he met his perfect new family and we are very happy to share that today, he went to his forever home!

We are absolutely over the moon and will miss you more than you'll ever know, CC.

We love you soooooo much.

Have the best life! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

(Thanks must also go to a very generous member of the public who donated CC's adoption fee!)

💛 A heartfelt message from UHFCT 💛

After much thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Upper Hutt Feline Charitable Trust due to the current economic environment. This isn’t an easy goodbye, but it is one filled with gratitude.

Formerly known as Upper Hutt Animal Rescue, we have been running since 1967. Over the years, we’ve been incredibly lucky to be supported by the most compassionate volunteers, foster carers, adopters, donors and vets. We truly couldn’t have done this without you.

As we come to the end of this chapter, we’d love to celebrate the journey with you. Please feel free to share your memories in the comments - stories, kind words, or updates on the cats you adopted. Seeing them thrive has always been the greatest reward.

Thank you for being part of our story, for believing in what we did, and for helping so many cats find love over the years. This may be the end of UHFCT but the impact you’ve helped create will live on in every life changed.

💛 Please share to help our final three cats find their forever homes. 💛
