Te Whare Hauora o Te Aitanga a Hauiti is now accepting Expressions of Interest for the Fire Wood / Māra Kai Initiative.
Expressions of Interest are open for:
✅ Kaumātua (65+)
✅ Low-income households with children under 3 years
You must reside in Ūawa (Tolaga Bay)
The initiative aims to support whānau wellbeing, warmth, and food security through access to firewood and home gardening resources.

🏀 What an awesome afternoon celebrating the opening of the new full-size basketball court at the Uawa Skate Park!

A huge congratulations to the committee, volunteers, funders, and everyone involved in bringing this kaupapa to life. This is a fantastic asset for our community and future generations.

Following on from last night's successful 'She'll Be Right' Men's Night, we're hosting a Men's Kawhe & Kōrero from 10am today, in celebration of Men's Health Week!

Come in for a coffee, challenge someone to a game of table tennis, or simply enjoy a good kōrero and catch up.

✂️ Community Hair Cuts are also on today from 10am to 4pm!
Subsidised haircuts with Caroline Kingi for Uawa residents, just $10. Walk-ins welcome.

What an awesome turnout for our She’ll Be Right Men’s Night!

Our tāne made the most of the services on offer, including chiropractic adjustments with Dr Cam, blood pressure checks with Kevin Pewhairangi from Horouta Pharmacy, fresh cuts from Eugene, and a powerful presentation and kōrero from Matua Tim & Shane from the team at MATES of Tairāwhiti.

The evening was filled with lucky prize draws, kai, wellness packs, and plenty of good kōrero. Most importantly, it was a chance for our men to connect, check in on their health, and support one another in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

From the positive feedback received, we’ll be looking to continue similar kaupapa in the near future.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, and to all our presenters, supporters, and volunteers who helped make the night a success. Together we are creating stronger, healthier communities.

She’ll be right? Nah, let’s make sure we’re alright.
