Of course a beautiful piece catches our eye, and is meant to be admired: platforms such Instagram exist by sharing images and pictures to look at, and there is so much to see! But personal adornment works with all our senses, in a beautiful way.⁠

Feeling jewellery is incredibly important. Not just the reassuring touch when fumbling with a piece, like we all do, but also feeling its weight and presence throughout the day. Without its familiar presence that we feel tugging on cloth or sitting on our wrist, something is missing. We feel incomplete.⁠

In many cases, jewellery used to smell, too. It was either made of fragrant components, contained aromatics or was worn on incensed clothing and perfumed hair. Its fragrance can be comforting, joyous, soothing, festive...and so much more.⁠
⁠
Its sound forms an audible beacon: like you recognize someone by their step, the jingling of their ornaments will tell you who is approaching before actually seeing them. And of course, the repetitive sounds of jewellery when dancing are part of the experience, and can even be trance-inducing.⁠

Jewellery moves in sync with us on all sensorial levels, and I love exploring that vast world behind an image!

Did you notice? We have changed our name!
We are now called "Mirage Fusion Belly Dance"!
We are also changing our style, & using more influences. We also recently changed our format - we now are doing 6 week blocks, with 2 weeks buffer/break/workshops between blocks.
Pop along to our next block "back to basics" on techniques, and making up a brand new choreography as we progress.
