Contract bridge, or simply bridge, is a trick-taking game using a standard 52-card deck. It is played by four players in two competing partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other around a table. Sadly Lindsay Reid, a founding member of the Te Aroha bridge club when he was just a young builder in Waihou and later served as president, passed away recently aged 95 in Hamilton. He was a font of knowledge about the club and always had a keen interest in how the club was going. He was our guest of honour when we celebrated the club’s 70th anniversary a couple of years ago.
