🌿 EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST | LEAD FACILITATOR(S)
Te Ririki o Te Rerekawau – Taonga Voice Pilot

Ngāti Pūkenga ki Tauranga Trust invites expressions of interest from an experienced facilitator or co-lead team to lead this kaupapa at Te Rerekawau (Kaiate Falls) and Whetū Marae.

The pilot will bring together up to 20 members of Ngāti Pūkenga whānau to deepen their understanding of taonga species in our rohe and strengthen their confidence to represent the interests of Te Taiao in environmental decision-making.

We’re looking for people who have:
• Experience facilitating kaupapa Māori, iwi, hapū or whānau processes.
• A strong grounding in tikanga Māori and Tauranga Moana.
• Skills in project coordination, inclusive hui facilitation and delivering awesome outcomes on time with a modest budget.
• An interest in mātauranga Māori, ecology and kaitiakitanga.

The role includes planning and coordinating the pilot, supporting whānau participation, facilitating hui, and preparing project outputs and reporting. Knowledge of Te Rerekawau and Ngāti Pūkenga kaitiakitanga priorities is desirable but not essential.

📅 Start: Immediately or as soon as practicable.
⏳ Commitment: Approximately 120–150 hours across the assignment, with the mahi completed by the end of February 2027. This is the combined commitment if co-leads are appointed.

He mihi aroha ki ō tātou kaumātua 💛

Ngā pou o te iwi, ngā kaipupuri o ngā kōrero tukuiho, ngā tikanga, me te mana o Ngāti Pūkenga.

Recently we had the privilege of bringing some of our kaumātua together to receive their new Ngāti Pūkenga ki Tauranga jackets and capture these beautiful whakaahua.

More than simply a jacket, this was our small way of acknowledging the time, mātauranga, tautoko and aroha they continue to give to our iwi. Whether standing alongside our whānau at tangihanga, supporting kaupapa, attending hui, or representing Ngāti Pūkenga across Tauranga Moana and beyond, their contribution is deeply valued.

This applied Masters qualification has been designed for whānau that have either completed an Undergraduate degree or have never studied and have leadership experience through work, iwi, or your community.We focus in on complementing the skills you already have and support you to find other ways to articulate what you already know in your puku.

The programme is run over two years and we are seeing interest for Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) and another in Te Moana-a-Toitehuatahi (Bay of Plenty).
