Training Ship Chatham Sea Cadets (TS Chatham) is a training organisation with a military flavour for youth aged 13-18 years of age. TS Chatham meet every Wednesday during the school term, from 1800 to 2100. As a part of the NZ Cadet Forces (NZCF) we provide a fun and challenging environment for learning new skills and meeting new friends. We have a focus on fostering strong leadership skills and p

roviding many opportunities for youth that are not available in other organisations. Cadets participate in a training programme set out by NZ Cadet Forces. The programme includes activities such as rope work, rigging, sailing, care and respect of uniform, drill and leadership training. Cadets can also participate in a wide range of weekend activities throughout the year.

Recently TS Chatham combined with TS Bellona - Navy Cadets to complete a shoot at the Whenuapai 25m Range. Most of the cadets were new to shooting and arrived rather nervous, but after the first set of rounds down the range they were away and had an enjoyable day, improving their skills over the course of the day. Highlights included the warm fine weather, the snap shoot, improving confidence, and the camaraderie with the other unit.

Interested in seeing what we do and having a look at the unit? Come and join us for our open night where we recognise the Battle of Trafalgar, as well as provide demonstrations of drill and Crown rigging. You'll also get a look at our premises, light refreshments provided. Please use the registration link below so we know you are coming, turn up at 6:30pm, finish at 8pm.
