Bellyful Tauranga

Bellyful Tauranga Bellyful nourishes and connects communities by cooking and delivering free meals to whānau, with babies or young children, who need support.

Refer a whānau or yourself here: bellyful.org.nz/bellyful-branches/tauranga/ Our aim is to encourage whānau to accept help and support from their local community - just like our grandparents did! Parenting is hard work, so why not take all the help that’s offered? Let’s all help each other out and build a stronger community in the process. You can help us fill bellies by making a donation: bellyful.org.nz/donate-now/

Behind every meal cooked, packed and delivered to a local family is a dedicated Bellyful volunteer.

This National Volunteer Week, we're celebrating the amazing people who generously give their time, skills and heart to support families across the Bay of Plenty.

Whether you're cooking meals, coordinating deliveries, supporting our admin and finances, helping behind the scenes, or delivering meals directly to families, every role plays an important part in what we do.

To every volunteer who helps make our mahi possible, thank you for delivering more than meals - you deliver care, kindness and support to local families when they need it most.

Recently, some of our key volunteers had the opportunity to attend the Bellyful Hui in Christchurch, connecting with our 24 sister branches from around New Zealand and sharing ideas, experiences and inspiration.

We came home refreshed, reinvigorated and inspired - A recurring theme throughout the Hui was the power of 'Belonging, Autonomy and Purpose', and the reminder that when people thrive, organisations thrive.

One quote that really resonated with us was: "Our meals are Bellyful’s Trojan horse to community connection", and another reflection that stayed with us was how "the support and energy of a few, mean so much to so many". It is encouraging to see Bellyful Tauranga humming, and this is thanks to our incredible team of volunteers and leaders.

A huge thank you to the Wright Family Foundation for supporting us to attend. We gained so much from the experience and are excited to bring new ideas, fresh energy and new connections back to Bellyful Tauranga.

A busy day in the kitchen means more meals ready for local families!

Our volunteers cooked 83 lasagnas, 85 spaghetti bolognese, 83 mac + cheese meals, plus an extra 26 meals for the SCBU freezer. Alongside these meals, our wonderful volunteer bakers have also been busy creating delicious treats to support the families we care for.

We also had a new cook volunteer join us on the day who said, “it was lots of fun… it was so fulfilling thinking 4 hours of my time would help fill over 200 little tummies” 🥹

Huge thank you's to the Baypark kitchen team, Cherrywood Butchery, Tauranga and to Wright Family Foundation for their ongoing support, allowing us to focus on getting meals to local families when they need them most.

We're so grateful for the incredible community behind Bellyful Tauranga 🩷💜🩷

What a fantastic night celebrating the incredible volunteers who make Bellyful Tauranga possible!

Last night we swapped meal-making for a bit of friendly competition and plenty of laughs at The Clubhouse Tauranga. While it's known as Tauranga's indoor golf simulator venue, the night was definitely more about fun and connection than fairways! ⛳😄

Whether volunteers were hitting hole-in-ones or discovering that golf might not be their hidden talent, everyone gave something new a go, shared plenty of laughs and spent time connecting with fellow volunteers.

The evening was also an opportunity to recognise some very special members of our Bellyful Tauranga whānau. We celebrated volunteers who have dedicated 5 and 10+ years of service to our branch, and presented several Shining Heart Awards to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of volunteers who go above and beyond.

A special congratulations to our amazing Branch Coordinator, Sarah, who was also recognised with a Shining Heart award at the recent Bellyful Hui in Christchurch. Your dedication, leadership and passion help make Bellyful Tauranga the caring community it is today.

Most importantly, the night was about saying thank you. Every meal cooked, every delivery made, every freezer filled, every behind-the-scenes task completed, every message sent – it all adds up to something truly special for the families we support.

A huge thank you to the team at Clubhouse IGC for hosting us. You were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, helping to create a relaxed, fun atmosphere that everyone could enjoy. We really appreciated your hospitality and helping make the evening such a success.

Thank you to every one of our volunteers – we couldn't do what we do without you 🩷💜🩷
