Annual Prizegiving – 2025

On 6 December 2025, the Unit conducted its annual exercise, Exercise Award, marking a key highlight of our training year. Exercise Award provided an opportunity to showcase a formal drill display to parents and whānau, while also recognising cadets for their commitment, effort, and achievements throughout the year.

The parade was formally reviewed by the Unit Patron, with trophies and awards presented by the Unit Patron, the President of the Tauranga RSA, the Vice President of the Mount RSA, and the President of the Hauraki Association.

The afternoon also included several well-earned promotions for Junior NCOs, along with the promotion of two Officers to the rank of Lieutenant. These promotions reflect sustained performance, leadership, and dedication to the values of the New Zealand Cadet Forces.

The Unit extends its sincere thanks to our reviewing and presenting guests, parents, supporters, and staff for their continued support throughout the year. Congratulations to all cadets recognised—your achievements are a credit to yourselves and the Unit.

On Friday 31 October, 2 former Staff Sergeants from the Unit march out of RRF Course 417 and join the NZ Army Infantry Regiments.

The Unit Commanding Officer, Unit Patron and one the of Units current Staff Sergeants were in attendance for the parade.

Exercise PLUNGE – White Water Rafting 11 Oct 25

This weekend, our Cadets took part in Exercise PLUNGE, an exciting White Water Rafting activity held in Rotorua.

Braving the rapids, our Cadets demonstrated courage, teamwork, and resilience — key qualities that the New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) aim to develop in our young people.

White Water Rafting challenges individuals to step outside their comfort zone, trust their team, and build confidence in a dynamic and unpredictable environment. Through experiences like these, our Cadets learn the value of leadership, communication, and perseverance — all while having an unforgettable adventure on the water!

A huge thank you to the staff, instructors, and rafting guides for ensuring a safe and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

The best part of the job as Officer is seeing a Cadet join at 13 and grow and move on at 18 and knowing you were a big part of their life.
This term the Unit farewell SSGT Roper who left the Unit to join the New Zealand Defence Force. All the best.

9 August 2025 marks a significant milestone in the Tauranga RSA as it decommissioned the Cenotaph after moving there on the 9 August 2009.

📯 Deconsecration Service – Tauranga RSA Cenotaph

A formal service will be held on Saturday 9th August 2025 to deconsecrate the Tauranga RSA Cenotaph.

📍 1237 Cameron Rd, Greerton Carpark
🕥 Commencing at 10:45AM

The service will be followed by refreshments in the club room.

🎖️ All Veterans & Serving Personnel are requested to wear medals, as this will be a formal occasion.
