🐾 MEET BOLT — LONG-TERM FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED 🐾
This gorgeous boy is Bolt, estimated to be around 24 weeks old, and he’s already had a pretty rough start to life.
Bolt was found wandering the streets with his brother, then spent nearly three weeks in the pound recovering before coming into our foster programme.
And in just one week, he has already started to show us what an incredibly sweet, cuddly and chilled-out boy he really is. ❤️
Bolt loves being around other dogs, loves a cuddle, loves a snooze and is happiest when he has a doggy mate to play with, sleep beside and hang out with.
He also makes an excellent playmate. He is great with older dogs because he isn’t relentlessly full-on, but he’s still robust and playful enough to enjoy a really good wrestle and romp when they’re in the mood. He seems to read other dogs well and genuinely enjoys their company.
He would be best suited to an experienced dog home with another friendly dog, or a home where someone is around most of the time — perhaps someone who works from home, has teenagers, flatmates or a busy household with people coming and going throughout the day.
He needs someone who understands that he hasn’t had a normal puppy start and will need a little extra time, patience and consistency while he learns what life in a home is all about.
And the good news is… Bolt is learning incredibly quickly.
In just his first week he has already made progress with:
🚗 Travelling in the car
👶 He’s already spent time around kids 5+ and has been great with them
🐶 Eating in his crate and now voluntarily going in and sitting there — even if it’s only for a minute so far!
🚽 Toilet training — he is picking this up well and we think he’ll be easy to train
🌙 Sleeping through the night with his buddy dog — currently on the sofa, but compared with where he started, this is huge progress!
🏡 Allowing us to leave the room and even the house for short periods
☕️ Was pretty well behaved on his first cafe visit 🤩
🦴 Learning sit and stay
When Bolt first arrived he had major separation anxiety. Just one week later, the improvement has already been enormous.
There are still things his new foster or forever family will need to keep working on:
• Learning to sleep happily in a crate and travel in one in the car
• Building confidence around being left alone
• He can bark when he wants something to happen or when he doesn’t want to be separated from everyone
• He doesn’t currently seem very keen on small dogs
• We have started introducing him to cats, but this is still very much a work in progress
What we really want people to understand is that Bolt is not a difficult dog — he is a young dog who simply hasn’t had the chance to learn yet.
Give him love, stability, boundaries and some time, and we genuinely think someone is going to end up with an absolutely beautiful companion.
Bolt will likely grow into a big boy, which perhaps explains why he is already so wonderfully chilled and quite happy to spend a good chunk of the day snoozing! 😂❤️
Bolt is:
✅ Vaccinated, including kennel cough
✅ Microchipped
✅ Registered with the council
✅ $450 adoption fee applies, which includes his future desexing
We are looking for either a long-term foster home or a forever home for Bolt.
Both need to be homes with previous dog experience and ideally another suitable dog already in the home, or someone who is home most of the time and genuinely has the time to continue his training, socialisation and confidence building.
He has already come such a long way in such a short time.
Now Bolt just needs someone willing to show him that he never has to worry about losing his home again. 🥹🐾❤️
Please message us if you think you could be the right foster or forever family for Bolt — and please share so we can find his people.
